SCs may also arise from the Meibomian glands, the glands of Zeis, or the sebaceous glands of the caruncle if occurring periocularly. The purpose of this research and systematic literature review is to determine if oral contraceptives or intrauterine devices are more effective in the treatment of dysmenorrhea pain. It is estimated that at least 50% of women worldwide live with dysmenorrhea and there is very little research determining what the best treatment options are for it. The main treatment recommended by health care providers for dysmenorrhea are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen. Background Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) is a condition that happens in newborn babies who were exposed to illicit substances or opiates while in the womb. The baby becomes dependent on the substances and will experience withdrawal symptoms after birth. Between 2010 and 2017, NAS births increased by 131%. Approximately 6.6% of pregnant women admitted to using prescription opioids, of which 21.2% acknowledged misuse. A significant portion (31.9%) of these women reported not receiving information on the potential effects of opioid use on their unborn baby. Studies have shown that consecutive aspartame consumption at as little as 7% of the FDA recommended daily intake can cause anxiety symptoms in ~8 days. Not only that, but after 12 weeks of consumption, it was proven that the anxiety symptoms are passed to the offspring two generations later. That means if you have roughly one to two 32 oz Diet Cokes per day, your children and grandchildren will show symptoms of anxiety even if they never consume aspartame themselves. The Prairie Pothole Region (PPR) of North America is home to dynamic glacier-formed lakes and wetlands that range in size from small intermittent wetlands to large permanently filled basins. Predicting water-related shifts in environmental conditions and biological community responses within these systems has been challenging due to non-linear, scale-specific changes. Furthermore, landscape-level changes in the quantity and distribution of surface water are becoming more frequent. This thesis contributes to our understanding of how waterbody size, and potential size fluctuations, influence chemical and community dynamics of complex PPR glacial lakes and wetlands.
