No Effect Of A Whey Growth Factor Extract During Resistance Training On Strength, Body Composition, Or Hypertrophic Gene Expression In Resistance-Trained Young Men, Michael J. Dale, Alison M. Growth factors can be isolated from bovine milk to form a whey growth factor extract (WGFE). This study examined whether WGFE promoted activation of the AKT/mTOR pathway enabling increased lean tissue mass and strength in resistance trained men. Forty six men with >6 months of resistance training (RT) experience performed 12 weeks of RT. Participants consumed 20 g/day of whey protein and were randomised to receive either 1.6 g WGFE/day (WGFE; n = 22) or 1.6 g cellulose/day (control, CONT; n = 24). Ten precipitation stations were set up to collect precipitation data (including rainfall/snowfall and snow depth measurements) across 6 USGS HUC10 watersheds. The heated tipping bucket rain gauge was utilized to obtain precipitation measurements. The heating mechanism engaged when temperatures were below freezing and thawed frozen precipitation to acquire measurements year-round (Heated Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge, Hydrological Services America). The data accuracy is within +/- 3% even with high rainfall intensities due to the integrated syphon mechanism which controls the release of precipitation into the tipping bucket (TB3 Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge, Hydrological Services America). Biochemical processing involving enzymatic catalysis of hydrolysis reactions of oils and fats must overcome significant technological barriers before the full benefits of the technology can be realized. Owing to their selectivity and mild reaction conditions, lipases are becoming increasingly important as biocatalysts provided that their kinetics and optimum reaction conditions are well-understood. Background and Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a common problem in the world population and total knee replacement has become the gold standard for repair when the OA becomes severe enough. Total knee replacement, however, is not the complete answer to knee OA. Without rehabilitation these patients may struggle to be fully functional. Objective. This qualitative life history was completed as part of a larger sample of 29 participants aimed to gather information about the history and evolution of occupational therapy practice in North Dakota and Wyoming through life histories of individuals who have been influential in developing occupational therapy in these two states and/or nationally.

Method. The participant was assigned by the project directors through purposive sampling. A semi-structured phone interview was conducted with the interviewer and two primary researchers. Data was coded and analyzed, which was then collapsed into categories, themes and a final assertion.

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction (SIJD) is plausible and can be treated through skilled physical therapy. The purpose of this case study is to educate and inform on the treatment for sacroiliac joint dysfunction. The patient was an 81 year old female, who was direct access and presented to physical therapy with complaints of left buttock and hamstring pain that was exacerbated with prolonged sitting. In this article, we report results on the behavior of selected proteins in solution and on how they could affect the overall absorption and distribution of electromagnetic energy within dielectrically heated biomaterials. Ovalbumin, bovine serum albumin (BSA), β-lactoglobulin (BLG), and lysozyme (Lys) proteins varying in molecular weight, structure, and isoelectric point were systematically screened for this study. Measurements were performed using an open-ended coaxial probe over a frequency range encompassing the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) bands (1–1800 MHz) at six concentration levels and 25 °C. This expansion of energy development has unknown influences on local wildlife populations and the ecological interactions within and among species. Our objectives for this study were to evaluate nest success and nest predator dynamics of sharp-tailed grouse (Tympanuchus phasianellus) in two study sites that represented areas of high and low energy development intensities in North Dakota. Nest predation is a critical component in avian productivity and typically is the leading cause of nest failure for most birds. Several landscape features are thought to drive the behavioral interaction between northern bobwhite (Colinus virginianus; e.g., nest placement) and their predators (e.g., search methods for food acquisition). In order to understand habitat characteristics influencing predation, we studied bobwhite nests using 24-hour near-infrared video cameras. We monitored 675 bobwhite nests with cameras on 3 properties in northern Florida and southern Georgia, USA, during 2000–2006. Buffleheads (Bucephala albeola) predominantly nest in the boreal forests and aspen parklands of Canada and Alaska. Historically, Buffleheads were common migrants but not summer residents in Minnesota. However, recent observations in Minnesota and surrounding states suggest increased breeding activity in the region. In 1978, the first Bufflehead brood in Minnesota was recorded at East Park Wildlife Management Area. Annually, Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) has conducted pair and brood surveys, with species-specific records available from 1990 to 2014.
