Advancing Nutrition And Dietetics Students' Preparation For Clinical Practice Through Simulation-Based Learning Experiences, Danielle Marie Villano
Advancing Nutrition And Dietetics Students' Preparation For Clinical Practice Through Simulation-Based Learning Experiences, Danielle Marie Villano
Theses and Dissertations
The use of Simulation-Based Learning (SBL) has increased in Nutrition and Dietetic (N&D) programs, although the research supporting its usability in N&D students is lacking. There are limited quality SBL instruments available that have been validated and tested for reliability in N&D students preparing for clinical practice. This three-article dissertation was to test the reliability of three SBL instruments for N&D students completing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) during SBL activities. During the first phase of this study, two instruments were developed, and one instrument was modified from another SBL instrument that had been previously validated and used for nursing …

Clinical Reasoning Development Following A Simulation-Based Learning Experience In Doctor Of Physical Therapy Education, Benjamin Wolden
Theses and Dissertations
Clinical Reasoning (CR) integrates thinking and decision-making in clinical practice (Huhn et al., 2019). CR is an established area of research in Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) education (Musolino & Jensen, 2019; Jensen & Mostrom, 2012) and has been acknowledged as a core competency of physical therapist residency education (APTA Residency Competency Work Group, 2020). Despite the established research, the assessment of CR has emerged as a topic of importance due to the need for standardized assessment of CR in DPT education that can lead to high-quality research and implementation of evidence-informed teaching and learning (Reilly et al. 2021; Furze …
The Application Of Machine Learning Algorithms On Co2 Eor, Chenyu Wu
The Application Of Machine Learning Algorithms On Co2 Eor, Chenyu Wu
Theses and Dissertations
CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) is increasingly recognized worldwide for its dual benefits of enhancing oil production and addressing environmental concerns related to greenhouse gas emissions. However, traditional methods for assessing the feasibility of CO2 EOR in a specific field, such as pilot tests and simulations, are often time-consuming and labor-intensive. A critical factor in determining the suitability of a field for CO2 EOR is the CO2 Minimum Miscibility Pressure (MMP), as miscible flooding is more feasible when the reservoir pressure exceeds the CO2 MMP. Traditional determination of CO2 MMP relies heavily on extensive experimentation, which, despite its accuracy, incurs …

Dodea K-12 Student Perceptions Toward Adjusting To Math Curricula Discrepancies Among Base Schools, Jackie Zuiderhof
Theses and Dissertations
Students who are affiliated with the United States Armed Forces will transition every two to four years depending on their parents’ career. The students who move may have educational gaps in mathematics because of a United States Armed Forces move occurring in the middle of a school year. The problem of practice addresses the educational gaps that former students and teachers perceive occurring related to content knowledge and procedural fluency. The researcher used a mixed methods study to ask close-ended quantitative questions and open-ended qualitative questions. The research was conducted on the web-based platform of Facebook. The results of the …

Mathematics education researchers (MERs) use practices unique to the mathematics education discipline to conduct their work. MERs’ practices, i.e., ways of being, interacting, and operating, define the field of mathematics education, are initially learned in doctoral preparation programs, and are encouraged and sanctioned by conferences and publications. Disciplinary practices facilitate MERs’ interactions within mathematics education. When working in interdisciplinary groups, differences in disciplinary ways of being, interacting, and operating can create challenges with completing research and other work. Since MERs’ engagement in interdisciplinary collaborations is encouraged and can result in products contributing to the evolution of the mathematics education discipline, …

Exercise Effect On Gestational Weight Gain And Diabetes In Women Of Elevated Bmi, Lauren Staton
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Posters
The purpose of this literature review is to determine the effect of exercise on gestational weight gain and diagnosis of gestational diabetes. Maternal obesity is a risk factor that may increase the likelihood of adverse outcomes during pregnancy such as excessive weight gain, gestational diabetes, macrosomia, and cesarean delivery. As obesity has become a more prevalent diagnosis, the healthcare field is beginning to see its effects on an abundance of patient profiles, including pregnant women. In the primary care setting, providers are the source of information for patients as to what healthy weight gain during pregnancy looks like. By implementing …

Ssri/Snri Medication Vs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy In The Treatment And Management Of Postpartum Anxiety, Kelsey Sederquest
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Posters
The purpose of this literature review is to determine the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors/Selective Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI/SNRI) in women suffering from postpartum anxiety. Efficacy of non-pharmacological, pharmacological, and combination therapy compared within this review. Lastly, prophylactic treatment of anxiety was examined in women who were pregnant or who were newly postpartum without diagnosis of anxiety. In this review the database PubMed was utilized to conduct research that included many different keywords. The articles included were limited to within the last 30 years, and research was narrowed by limiting patient population to postpartum …
Exercise And Preventing Dementia In Older Adults, Valerie Snelling
Exercise And Preventing Dementia In Older Adults, Valerie Snelling
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Posters
Dementia is a devastating diagnosis for millions of individuals and the prevalence is projected to increase significantly in the next 30 years. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2019), there are over five million individuals aged 65 and over living in the United States with dementia. That number is estimated to increase to 14 million by 2060. The impact of the increasing prevalence of dementia is significant. Because dementia is a complex disease caused by over 50 underlying health conditions, finding effective treatments for the disease is difficult. This makes prevention of dementia extremely important. The purpose …
