The Relationship Between Ventilatory Threshold And Repeated-Sprint Ability In Hockey Players, Matthew Robert Lowery
Theses and Dissertations
The relationship between ventilatory threshold (VT1, VT2) and repeated-sprint ability (RSA) in competitive male ice-hockey players was investigated. Forty-three male ice-hockey players (age 20.0 ± 1.4 years; height 182.5 ± 6.3 cm; body mass 84.8 ± 6.5 kg; percent body fat 11.8 ± 2.8%; relative O2peak 55.0 ± 4.5 mL/kg/min) competing at the Division I, Division III, and Junior A level volunteered to participate in the study during the off-season. Participants first performed an incremental graded exercise test on a skate treadmill to determine their VO2peak, final stage completed, VT1, stage at VT1, VT2, and stage at VT2. Analysis of …

The researcher focused on test scores from the sixth grade when instrumental music was offered, examined test data from tenth grade, and studied academic growth. All student scores were included, but the independent variables …

Delayed Cord-Clamping In Term And Preterm Infants: Nursing Strategies To Facilitate Implementation, Nancy M. Finnegan
Delayed Cord-Clamping In Term And Preterm Infants: Nursing Strategies To Facilitate Implementation, Nancy M. Finnegan
Theses and Dissertations
Newborns have been shown to benefit from delayed umbilical cord clamping after birth by the extra transfusion of placental blood. Enhanced placental transfusion is known to increase blood volume, red blood cells and improve the oxygenation of vital organs in both term and preterm infants. There continues to be however, a need for further research including issues such as optimal timing of the delay, eligibility and appropriateness of those newborns requiring resuscitation, and the ideal position to hold the infant prior to cord clamping. Changes in clinical practice have been slow to take hold because of these issues, along with …
