Since April of 2011, research and development efforts between the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the University of North Dakota (UND) have progressed through the “Science and Technology for Warfighter Training and Aiding.” Cooperative Agreement. One product of these cooperative efforts has been a Heads Down Display (HDD) Menu Trainer. Designed to familiarize students with the layout and manipulation of the HDD menus for either the MQ-1 or MQ-9, a parallel pretest/posttest design was designed to examine the efficacy of this HDD menu trainer as training aid in traditional, blended, and distance pedagogies.

Emotion Dysregulation And Impulsivity As Moderators Of Treatment Response And Acceptability In Bulimia Nervosa, Mary E. Zander Aug 2016

Emotion Dysregulation And Impulsivity As Moderators Of Treatment Response And Acceptability In Bulimia Nervosa, Mary E. Zander

Theses and Dissertations

There is great variability in personality among individuals with Bulimia Nervosa (BN; e.g., see Goldner, et al., 1999), such as on dimensions of impulsivity and emotion dysregulation. Individuals high on these traits appear to have different treatment needs compared to those who are low; however, little research has been conducted to evaluate the impact of these traits on treatment perception and success. There are several empirically supported treatments for BN, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy-Enhanced (CBT-E), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Integrative Cognitive-Affective Therapy (ICAT). Although each of these treatments may reduce eating disorder behaviors, they use different approaches to address or modify …

Longitudinal Effects Of Embryonic Exposure To Cocaine On Morphology, Cardiovascular Physiology, And Behavior In Zebrafish, Eric J. Mersereau, Cody A. Boyle, Shelby Poitra, Ana Espinoza, Joclyn Seiler, Robert Longie, Lisa Delvo, Megan Szarkowski, Joshua Maliske, Sarah Chalmers, Tristan Darland, Diane Darland

Biology Faculty Publications

A sizeable portion of the societal drain from cocaine abuse results from the complications of in utero drug exposure. Because of challenges in using humans and mammalian model organisms as test subjects, much debate remains about the impact of in utero cocaine exposure. Zebrafish offer a number of advantages as a model in longitudinal toxicology studies and are quite sensitive physiologically and behaviorally to cocaine. In this study, we have used zebrafish to model the effects of embryonic pre-exposure to cocaine on development and on subsequent cardiovascular physiology and cocaine-induced conditioned place preference (CPP) in longitudinal adults. Larval fish showed …

Time Changes In The Body Dimensions Of Male Australian Army Personnel Between 1977 And 2012, Grant Tomkinson, Nathan Daniell, Ashley Fulton, Alistair Furnell May 2016

Time Changes In The Body Dimensions Of Male Australian Army Personnel Between 1977 And 2012, Grant Tomkinson, Nathan Daniell, Ashley Fulton, Alistair Furnell

Education, Health & Behavior Studies Faculty Publications

The aim of this study was to quantify time changes in the body dimensions of male Australian Army personnel. Following a systematic review, two studies were identified and matched for occupation and age (n = 669) with time changes in 12 absolute and 11 proportional body dimensions assessed between 1977 and 2010–12. Changes in means were expressed as absolute, percent and standardised changes, with changes in variability assessed visually and as the ratio of coefficients of variation (CVs). Time changes in absolute dimensions were typically positive (increases) and moderate in magnitude (median standardised change ± 95%CI: 0.53 ± 0.23), …

Education, Health & Behavior Studies Faculty Publications

Objective To develop sex-specific and age-specific international norms for the 20 m shuttle run test (20mSRT) in children and youth (aged 9–17 years), and to estimate the prevalence meeting the FITNESSGRAM criterion-referenced standards for healthy cardiorespiratory endurance (CRE).

Methods A systematic review was undertaken to identify papers explicitly reporting descriptive 20mSRT (with 1 min stages) data on children and youth since 1981. Data were included on apparently healthy (free from known disease/injury) 9–17 years old. Following standardisation to a common metric and for protocol differences, pseudo data were generated using Monte Carlo simulation, with population-weighted sex-specific and age-specific normative centiles …
