Localization Of Endothelial Cells And Their Precursors In The Embryonic Chick Heart During Coronary Vasculogenesis Utilizing An Mrna Specific Probe., Michelle Lynn Slover

Theses and Dissertations

The definitive origin(s) of endothelial cell precursors involved in establishing the endothelial lining of intramural coronary vasculature within the subepicardial space of the embryonic chick heart have not been fully characterized. This vasculogenic process is suggested to derive from reciprocal tissue interactions between the myocardium, dorsal mesocardium, and continuous epicardium. These developmental processes occur in chick embryos, staged 16–25 (2 to 4.5–5 days). In the current study, presumptive endothelial precursor cells have been located amongst the surface epithelial cells of the dorsal mesocardium and villi of the proepicardial organ, both of which contribute to the epicardial epithelium. Endothelial precursor cells …

A Review Of The Process Of Accessing Services For Children With Special Health Care Needs In North Dakota, Lynsey Schmidt

Physical Therapy Scholarly Projects

It has been a concern of the Family Advisory Council of Children's Special Health Services, Bismarck, North Dakota, that many families experienced difficulties when trying to access information for medical, financial, educational, and family services for their children with special health care needs. The family members on this advisory board found the process of accessing services confusing and time consuming, and indicated that families were also unclear as to where to begin the process. An abundance of information provided at the time of their child's diagnosis made it difficult for families to make informed decisions about the most important and …

The Effects Of Eldercare Responsibilities On Employed Caregivers, Nancy Jean Mcenroe

Theses and Dissertations

The number of people in the older population will continue to grow as the decades progress. The most rapid increase expected would be between the years 2010 and 2030 when the “baby boom” generation reaches 65 years or older. By the year 2030, there will be about 70 million older persons, more than twice the number than for the year 1998.

More and more people will live long enough to experience multiple chronic illnesses, disability, and dependency; in addition there will be more relatives in their fifties and sixties who will be facing the concern and expense of caring for …

Eating Disorders: Prevention, Identification And Treatment In Elementary And Secondary Schools, Marcella I. Stickney

This study was designed to examine the responses of elementary and secondary school counselors to students with symptoms of eating disorders. A survey was sent to 1000 school counselors in the upper Midwest (Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin) during the spring of 2000. The survey contained 1 of 4 vignettes which describe either a male or female student presenting with/without symptoms suggestive of disordered eating patterns. The gender of the student in the vignette was randomly assigned. School counselors were asked to report the classification they would designate, assessment procedures they would utilize, and interventions that they …
