This project chronicles the emergence of Arte Público Press, the most successful Latinx press over the past five decades, highlighting its different periods of growth as a nonprofit press, along with some of its key authors and contributions that have shaped the field of Latinx literary studies. In his role as founder and editor of Arte Público, Nicolás Kanellos contributed to the publication of now-canonical authors such as Tomás Rivera, Rolando Hinojosa, Tato Laviera, Sandra Cisneros, and Helena María Viramontes. Rural grocery stores are cornerstone institutions that are central to the health and well-being of their communities - not only providing food, but also serving as spaces of economic development, cultural and historic preservation, social connection, and resilience. In response to the loss of many rural stores over recent decades, the ‘Revitalizing Rural Grocery Stores in Northern New Mexico’ handbook brings together community histories, political analysis, and practical strategies to support their protection and resurgence. Correcting Class Imbalance Through Synthetic Training Data And 3d Modeling For Carabid Pitfall Trap Sampling, Blair Mirka

Geography ETDs

Crowdsourced biodiversity data provide an accessible foundation for large-scale ecological monitoring, but class imbalance limits automated species identification, particularly for rare taxa. This research explores the use of synthetic training data generated from 3D models of carabid beetle museum specimens to improve detection and classification performance for underrepresented species in crowdsourced datasets. High-resolution 3D models were created to simulate variation in lighting, orientation, and background. These synthetic images were incorporated into convolutional neural network training datasets at varying synthetic-to-real ratios to assess their impact on classification accuracy. Juan Bautista Ralliere’S Cánticos Espirituales And The Making Of A Transnational Soundscape In Nineteenth-Century New Mexico, Javier Marín-López

Compiled by the French priest Juan Bautista Rallière, pastor of Tomé, Cánticos espirituales is regarded as the most influential nineteenth-century Spanish-language hymnal of the U.S. Southwest. With at least fourteen editions published between 1884 and 1956, this remarkable collection of over 300 songs drew upon melodies from French, Italian, Spanish, Mexican, and New Mexican sources. This lecture offers a critical overview of its contents and examines the hymnal’s extensive use of contrafacta—new sacred texts set to familiar tunes—as a strategy for shaping a transnational Catholic soundscape in nineteenth-century New Mexico. ADVANCE Reports

A Spring 2025 climate survey finds that UNM faculty remain committed to their teaching, scholarship, and collegial relationships, despite concerns about research funding, academic freedom, and graduate student recruitment and well-being. The survey also found that faculty have higher levels of stress than in a previous ADVANCE survey, worse psychological well-being, more difficulty concentrating, and more concern about tenure and promotion. A set of recommendations for academic leaders are provided.

In the context of integrating sports and medicine, the evaluation of collaborative development models in community healthcare and the sports health industry can be analyzed through four aspects: resource integration efficiency, health service coverage, improvement in residents' health levels, and policy support and implementation effectiveness. These indicators help assess the model's effectiveness and promote residents' well-being and industry collaboration. The collaborative development patterns evaluation of community medical and sports health industry based on sports medicine integration is multiple-attribute decision-making (MADM).
