Analyzing The Income-Education Nexus In Ecuador: A Neutrosophic Statistical Approach, Guido Macas-Acosta, Juan-Antonio Jimber-Del-Río, Fidel Márquez-Sánchez, Arnaldo Vergara-Romero
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
This study examines the relationship between education and entrepreneur income in Ecuador, a prototypical small economy grappling with employment challenges. Utilizing quantile regression and neutrosophic statistical methods, the research uncovers varied impacts of education on earnings across different income levels. The findings reveal a decrease in indeterminacy as individuals ascend income quintiles, indicating that higher education levels yield more predictable and substantial economic returns at the upper end of the income spectrum. These insights are vital for policymakers to develop targeted educational interventions. The study’s methodological novelty lies in its adoption of neutrosophic statistics, which embraces the indeterminacy intrinsic to …

An Efficient Neutrosophic Type-2 Model For Selecting Optimal Internet Of Things (Iot) Service Provider: Analysis And Applications, Ibrahim Alrashdi
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
The Internet of Things, or IoT, is a rapidly expanding technology, and one of its most important application areas is sustainable transportation. Choosing the right IoT service provider is a complex process that is considered a multi-criteria decision issue. The multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methodology deals with massive criteria. This study proposed an MCDM methodology for selecting the best IoT service provider under different sustainable criteria. The Multi-Objective Optimization Ratio Analysis (MOORA) method is an MCDM methodology used to rank the alternatives. The MOORA method is integrated with a type 2 neutrosophic set to deal with uncertain information. The proposed MCDM …

Inhaled Microbiomics: Targeted Delivery Of Prebiotics And Antibiotics In Patients With Cystic Fibrosis, David Arran Mcchesney, Seth M. Daly, Patricia Marshik, Pavan Muttil
Pharmaceutical Sciences ETDs
Adults with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) are a unique and expanding patient population in the context of massive progress in disease screening and treatment. However, exacerbations remain a significant complication of the disease associated with its decline. CF pathophysiology promotes chronic respiratory bacterial infections, which are implicated in exacerbations. An important finding in research surrounding the respiratory microbiome has correlated the loss of diversity being with a worse prognosis in chronic lung diseases. We developed an aerosol formulation towards supporting the existing, diverse respiratory microbiome. Our formulation of prebiotics with and without antibiotics was designed to fit within the complex, multistep, …

Alcohol is a known teratogen, a substance capable of changing the neurodevelopmental outcomes of a fetus. We demonstrate an interaction between the rate, timing, and quantity of maternal alcohol consumption on the behavior of offspring in mice. Specifically, we found a correlation between these maternal drinking patterns and sex-specific changes in motor function and body weight gain. This study provides a precise tracking and analysis method for rodent maternal drinking characteristics and fetal neurodevelopmental outcomes.

Prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) impairs the migration of interneurons during brain development. As interneurons are involved in dentate gyrus synaptic plasticity and learning, we measured three different subtypes of interneurons in dentate gyrus and found a significant decrease in the density of parvalbumin-positive (PV+) neurons in both sexes of PAE rats. These results suggest that PV+ interneurons are particularly sensitive to moderate PAE and could contribute to differential physiological and behavioral responses in PAE rats.

Cerebral Small Vessel Disease (SVD) contributes to 50% of human dementias world-wide. Human studies indicate a causative role of microvascular endothelial dysfunction, including blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction in SVD. A potential link between BBB dysfunction and tissue hypoxic hypoperfusion underlying the essentials of SVD has been postulated; however, the mechanism(s) remains an open question. This study proposes the reversal of BBB disruption through pharmacological intervention of S1PR1 signaling as a novel therapeutic target for SVD.

The cerebellum is a late-developing area of the brain that shows promise in regulation of reward related processes. Since reward plays a role in a number of disorders, finding out how reward works and how to alter this is critical. Since both the cerebellum and the reward are changing in adolescence, does this region show cerebellar activation with reward? A search of the literature shows that it does.

Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders result in a variety of learning and memory deficits. In this original study, we examined learning deficits between a third trimester equivalent alcohol exposure (TTAE) mouse model and their saline control counterparts. Additionally, we assessed the functional connectivity between 100+ brain regions using a marker of neural activity, cFOS. Overall, TTAE mice showed deficits in learning and differential network activation.

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a highly effective treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD) yet many candidates for ECT treatment are reluctant due to the risk of cognitive side effects. It’s not currently known what underlies this cognitive impairment, but it has been proposed that long-term potentiation (LTP), which is a strengthening of neuronal connections underlying learning and memory, is disrupted during ECT treatment. We are measuring changes in LTP during ECT using electroencephalography (EEG).

Using a multidisciplinary research approach, researchers can explore the role of the brain, mind, and consciousness to experience altered states of consciousness through deep and undisturbed concentration efforts. They can approach the decision-making process during a research event by using a quantitative theory of consciousness as manifested in information processing. An integrated framework combining data from various disciplines can help develop a broader theory of consciousness that is impossible from any single field alone.
