Gary Chapman’s The 5 Love Languages (2024) is an internationally recognized popular psychology theory. In the present study (n = 740) a series of factor analyses were conducted to explore the structure of the five love languages. Both the structure of what behaviors people perceive as an expression of their partner’s love (reception), and the structure of what behaviors people perceive as an expression of their love for their partner (expression) were examined. Although exploratory factor analyses suggested that a two-factor and five-factor solution were reasonable across both reception and expression formats, confirmatory factor analyses resulted in no model being …

Late medieval views of women in Western European culture, specifically in fifteenth-century France, were predicated on the ideologies of "other." According to normative sociocultural attitudes of this period, women were immoral, lascivious, and indulged in frivolity. Their culturally acceptable and, therefore, natural roles were delineated solely as that of wife and mother. Although the origin of these views is obscured by time, there are scores of textual and visual examples of this cultural labeling. Numerical simulations of an inertial confinement fusion (ICF) target during the implosion process require high fidelity models of the radiation transport process. This work is interested in the transport of high-energy light-ions and neutrons in a background ICF plasma. As these energetic particles slow down, they experience knock-on (recoil) and thermonuclear (TN) collisions with the light-ions in the background plasma. These recoil and TN collisions excite the background light-ions causing them to transport through the plasma further exciting background light-ions. Process variations within Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) provide a rich source of entropy, making them well-suited for the implementation of Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs). This dissertation presents three studies on FPGA-based PUFs. First, we explore a ring-oscillator (RO) PUF that leverages localized entropy from individual look-up table (LUT) primitives, analyzing design bias. Next, we investigate delay variations that occur through the routing network and switch matrices of FPGAs using a feature of Xilinx called dynamic partial reconfiguration (DPR). This study investigates reduction in the vocalic sequence /ea/ in spontaneous conversational Tapatío Spanish from CCT: El Corpus Conversacional Tapatío (Martínez Gómez & Ibarra Zetter, 2017). An example of this phenomenon is the vocalic sequence /ea/ in the word in teatro ‘theater,’ which is often produced as [ˈtja.tɾo]. However, the word azotea ‘rooftop’ is usually pronounced [a.so.ˈte.a] by CCT speakers. The lexical frequency of these words is one factor that influences the degree of /ea/ reduction. People with rare disease have lower health-related quality of life (HRQoL) than the general population. Gaucher disease type 1 (GD1) is a rare, autosomal recessive, lysosomal storage disorder that affects multiple bodily systems. HRQoL improved with enzyme replacement and/or substrate reduction therapies, however, little is known about specific variables associated with HRQoL in GD1. This study explored associations between individual characteristics (gender, race, ethnicity, age, and genotype), treatment variables (treatment type, length of time on treatment, and treatment satisfaction) and symptoms of fatigue and pain with HRQoL among 97 adults with GD1. Antimicrobial resistance is a global public health issue that, exacerbated by inappropriate antibiotic use, leads to reduced bactericidal effects, multidrug resistance, increased medical costs, prolonged hospital stays, and higher mortality rates. This study evaluates the antibacterial and antifungal activity of the es-sential oil of Hedyosmum cuatrecazanum Occhioni against various clinically relevant bacterial and fungal strains. The essential oil was extracted by hydrodistillation, yielding a 0.26% extract. Its components were characterized by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results demonstrate that the essential oil exhibits significant antibacterial activity, comparable to commercial antibiotics. Hedyosmum cuatrecazanum oil showed the highest antibacterial …
