Unraveling The Impact Of Curricular Complexity On Graduation Time: A Causal Analysis In Higher Education, Ameer Slim

Mathematics & Statistics ETDs

This study examines the causal relationship between program complexity and graduation time at UNM. While program complexity is recognized as a factor influencing student outcomes, its precise impact on graduation timelines remains underexplored. Using comprehensive cohort data, this study employs causal inference methods, including generalized propensity scores, to estimate the effect of complexity on time-to-degree. Findings reveal that higher program complexity extends graduation timelines, even after controlling for demographics and academic preparedness. Socioeconomic factors also play a role. Specifically, programs with more Pell Grant recipients and lower median high school GPAs tend to have lower complexity levels. These results provide …

Join the LAII and the UNM School of Law for a talk about Coca Cola’s influence in Latin America

In 2022, Coca-Cola sent an indigenous business from Colombia a letter asking them to stop using the name of its Coca-Pola beer because- according to the drinks giant—it could be confused with its commercial brands. In a sense, Coca-Cola claimed that it owns the rights to the word “coca,” which originated in indigenous communities in Latin America. This dispute illustrates how corporations routinely engage in cultural appropriation and economic exploitation of traditional …

A Concise Formalization Of Hyperrealism-Antirealism In Physics Using Neutrosophic Logic, Takaaki Fujita, Florentin Smarandache, Victor Christianto Apr 2025

A Concise Formalization Of Hyperrealism-Antirealism In Physics Using Neutrosophic Logic, Takaaki Fujita, Florentin Smarandache, Victor Christianto

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

In [6], the relationship between hyperrealism and antirealism in physics is proposed. Hyperrealism Antirealism describes a spectrum where theories transition from being empirically grounded (realist) to speculative frameworks dominated by untestable assumptions, thereby detaching from observable reality. This paper presents a concise mathematical formalization of the spectrum of hyperrealism-antirealism in theoretical physics and the philosophy of science. We propose a method to quantify the extent to which a theory is “hyperreal” or “antirealist” using a ratio of testable to untestable statements. Additionally, we provide several theorems that outline the conditions under which theories shift into hyperreal or antirealist domains. Finally, …

A Cellular And Molecular Dissection Of The Breast: Identification Of Pericytes As A Driver Of Tumor Cell Proliferation, Katelyn M. Del Toro Apr 2025

A Cellular And Molecular Dissection Of The Breast: Identification Of Pericytes As A Driver Of Tumor Cell Proliferation, Katelyn M. Del Toro

Biomedical Sciences ETDs

Tissues are composed of many different types of cells. Each has a specific function and exists within a unique context—all of which define the landscape of the tissue. The cellular and molecular interactions within a tissue are critical to its form and function. Defining these interactions is an important step in understanding the aberrant nature of diseases like cancer, where tissue homeostasis has been abandoned. This requires reliable models of each cell type. Yet, in many tissues, including the breast, comprehensive methods to identify, purify, and study each tissue cell type have not been defined. This is a critical deficiency …

From Di-Alectics To N-Alectics: Indigenous Cultures And Ancestral Philosophies In Latin America, Florentin Smarandache, Maikel Y. Leyva Vázquez Apr 2025

From Di-Alectics To N-Alectics: Indigenous Cultures And Ancestral Philosophies In Latin America, Florentin Smarandache, Maikel Y. Leyva Vázquez

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

This paper explores the n-alectic framework, which extends traditional di-alectic and tri-alectic models by integrating multiple subcomponents through refined neutrosophic logic. Drawing from pre Columbian philosophies, particularly Mesoamerican, Andean, and Amazonian traditions, the study demonstrates how indigenous worldviews align with n-alectic structures. The figure of Quetzalcóatl/Kukulkán illustrates a triadic balance of sky, earth, and underworld, while Andean Yanantin and Pachakuti reflect complementary duality and transformation. Shuar cosmology further exemplifies a complex n-alectic system, where multiple spiritual and natural forces interact dynamically. The ethical decision-making model, applied to resource extraction and Pachamama principles, utilizes weighted metrics and neutrosophic distance calculations to …

Global Gender Inequality In Industry: A Systematic Review With Neutrosophic Analysis, Jimmy Hurtado Paspuel, Raquel Vera-Ortega, Angel M. Plaza, Bernardo Hubert Ovalle Correa

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

This study examines gender inequalities in the worldwide sector via a systematic review employing a neutrosophic approach, focusing on income discrepancies, workplace harassment, preventative strategies, professional hurdles, and leadership representation. The neutrosophic methodology categorizes findings into components of truth, falsehood, and indeterminacy, assessing evidence via four metrics: neutrosophic score, reliability index, certainty level, and information quality index. In accordance with PRISMA 2020 standards, 282 studies published from 2020 to 2024 were examined. The findings indicate that workplace harassment exhibits the most substantial evidence (reliability=0.828, IQI=0.496), succeeded by wage disparities (reliability=0.813, IQI=0.400), whereas prevention policies reveal the greatest uncertainty (reliability=0.696). Robust …

Interval-Valued Neutrosophic Framework For Improving The Decision-Making On The Quality Evaluation Of English Classics Translation, Ying Du Apr 2025

Interval-Valued Neutrosophic Framework For Improving The Decision-Making On The Quality Evaluation Of English Classics Translation, Ying Du

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

English translations of literary classics are a subject of interest for many scholars and evaluators. However, the evaluation of the translations is a complex and multifaceted task, which necessitates a balance between linguistic accuracy, cultural fidelity, and readability. This makes traditional methods often fall short of catching the uncertainties, ambiguities, and subjective judgments. In an attempt to bridge these gaps between computational linguistics and translation studies, we introduce a mathematically grounded IVNS approach to evaluate the translation of English classics by flexible modeling of the ambiguities inherent in translation decisions. Then, we introduced an extended version of the MULTIMOORA method, …

Convolutional Interval-Valued Neutrosophic Network For Intelligent Evaluation Of Smart Clothing Design Choices, Fengfang Wu Apr 2025

Convolutional Interval-Valued Neutrosophic Network For Intelligent Evaluation Of Smart Clothing Design Choices, Fengfang Wu

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Smart clothing design turned out to be a set of complex decision-making processes requiring complementary aesthetics, functionality, as well as customer preferences. This, in turn, makes the traditional evaluation methods struggle to deal with uncertainty and subjectivity in customer feedback about smart clothing design. In an attempt to address this challenge, this research article proposes a novel Neutrosophic approach that integrates Interval-Valued Neutrosophic (IVN) with Convolutional Network to build an intelligent tool for the evaluation of smart clothing design choices. The Neutrosophic representation enables modeling uncertainty, inconsistency, and hesitancy in decision-making by assigning interval-ed membership degrees for different views of …

In both the trapezoidal and bipolar neutrosophic environments, decision makers supply all the information needed to make decisions in complex multicriteria decision-making problems. This work suggests a novel, efficient method to handle these situations. We used two methods to evaluate the criteria and alternatives such as LMAW and MARCOS. We used the LMAW method to compute the criteria weights and the MARCOS method to rank the alternatives. Nine criteria and …

Enhancing Medical X-Ray Image Classification With Neutrosophic Set Theory And Advanced Deep Learning Models, Walid Abdullah Apr 2025

Enhancing Medical X-Ray Image Classification With Neutrosophic Set Theory And Advanced Deep Learning Models, Walid Abdullah

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

The classification of medical images presents significant challenges due to the presence of noise, uncertainty, and indeterminate information. Traditional deep learning models often struggle to manage this, leading to reduced diagnostic accuracy, especially when dealing with low-quality or ambiguous conditions. This paper proposes a hybrid approach that integrates Neutrosophic Set (NS) theory with deep learning models to enhance X-ray image classification under uncertain conditions. NS theory introduces three domains: True (T), Indeterminate (I), and False (F) to manage image uncertainty and noise, allowing deep learning models to better interpret complex, ambiguous visual information. To evaluate the approach, five state-of-the-art deep …
