En este artículo se propone un recorrido por algunos momentos por la obra de Federico Ribas, un ilustrador nacido en España y exiliado durante la Guerra Civil Española en Argentina que ha dejado una importante huella en el campo de la Literatura Infantil de ese país, en especial por su participación en la editorial Atlántida. Sus ilustraciones tanto en revistas como en libros fueron muy numerosas y por ese motivo se ha decidido tomar algunas como ejemplo, por eso la denominación de instantáneas, que permitan ilustrar con unos pocos ejemplos su importante labor.

Gass Professor en la Washington University de Saint Louis (MO), dialoga en esta larga entrevista sobre el concepto de frontera, ciudadanía y nación, tocando algunos de los puntos clave de la crisis migratoria que estamos viviendo a nivel global. Desde una posición teórica que arraiga en la crítica marxista, Moraña propone desvincular el concepto de derechos humanos del de ciudadanía, abogando por una reformulación jurídica internacional que ponga en su centro la condición humana del individuo sin tener en cuenta su lugar de nacimiento y su pertenencia nacional.

Americans take pride in having popularized the campus novel. Too bad it hap- pened like their demonym, American, which presumes one thing and ignores the rest. In this research, I demonstrate that the campus novel is a limited genre. I also explore why critics and readers alike consider it an American genre, that is one that makes visible only certain kinds of Americans. My focus is on the lack of Hispanic authors and protagonists. Millions of Hispanics teach, study, and work in American (US) universities, yet fiction does not reflect this reality. This workshop presentation, "Powering Up Clinical Practice: Mastering Clinical Literature Search Techniques in EMBASE," is designed to enhance healthcare professionals’ skills in conducting effective clinical literature searches using EMBASE. The session covers efficient navigation of EMBASE, transforming clinical questions into search concepts, developing advanced search strategies with keywords and Emtree terms, applying search tips (Boolean logic, truncation, wildcards), conducting pilot searches, refining search strategies, and managing results for clinical decision-making. Additional resources and HSLIC services are introduced to support literature review and research workflows.

The Traveling Wilburys of the Colorado River

The process for determining the operating rules for the Colorado River system that will take effect in 2027 is in full swing. While various alternative operating regimes have been proposed, no preferred or consensus alternative has yet emerged. As a group of experienced Colorado River colleagues without affiliation to any Basin State, Tribe, or interested stakeholder, we submit that there are fundamental principles that should form the basis of the ultimate Record of Decision defining management of the Colorado River for the future. We propose the following essential pillars for inclusion in the Post-2026 Guidelines.

Language is a fundamental tool of social control. Linguistic bias plays a crucial role in social hierarchies and opportunities. While research has extensively documented linguistic bias in spoken language, less attention has been given to bias in written language. This study investigates students' evaluations of three instructors’ writings: a bilingual, an instructor with a disability, and a monolingual. The study employs a matched-guise technique to explore potential biases in students' perceptions of preference, leadership skills, expertise, and professionalism.

Chicana and Chicano Studies ETDs

This research dedicates attention to different examples of music and visual art that encompass contemporary San Diego-Tijuana border-integrated art. By employing a participant-observer approach with the music component and conducting plática-based interviews with all involved artists, this work underlines the vitality of the artworks’ manipulation of the U.S.-Mexico border wall and community as a driving force in the elaboration and growing influence of these projects and pieces. By analyzing how these works act as vehicles for response, light is also cast on greater matters that lie beyond the border zone: propagation of fear, anti-immigrant sentiment, and misinformed anxieties.
