Respiratory Physiology Of The Scorpion Paruroctonus Aquilonalis, Wayne A. Riddle Nov 1976

Respiratory Physiology Of The Scorpion Paruroctonus Aquilonalis, Wayne A. Riddle

Biology ETDs

The scorpion Paruroctonus aquilonalis (Stahnke) was studied to better understand the influence that six potentially important factors (size, sex, temperature, nutrition, season, and humidity) have on its respiratory metabolism. Respiratory rate: temperature relations of oxygen consumption from 5°C to 36°C, and standard metabolism estimates at 20°C and 25°C were employed. Respirometry was performed on both freshly collected mature and immature scorpions and on laboratory-maintained animals.

Inverse weight: metabolism relationships were noted for males and females above 24°C, but below 24°C live weight did not influence metabolic rate among females. For mature males positive weight: metabolism patterns were found below 24 …

New Mexico Labor Market Review, Employment Security Commission Of New Mexico Mar 1976

New Mexico Labor Market Review, Employment Security Commission Of New Mexico

Historic Publications

The New Mexico Labor Market Review was prepared by the Research and Statistics section for the Employment Security Commission of New Mexico for February of 1976. It is a report on the state's employment and economic activity; total unemployment rose but was expected by seasonal patterns so the adjusted unemployment rate stayed the same from January 1976. New Mexico's unemployment rate was lower than the nations: 6.9% and 7.6%, respectively. This was from a more-than-expected increase in employment across multiple industries (mostly state government).

Fabiola Cabeza De Baca Gilbert, American Association Of University Women-New Mexico

The 1976 Women in New Mexico Exhibit by the American Association of University Women - New Mexico

Fabiola Cabeza de Baca Gilbert, a New Mexico Cooperative Extension Service agent, was devoted to teaching residents of the state's northern rural areas skills to upgrade the quality of their daily lives. As a writer, she has documented an important part of our state's cultural heritage -- the traditions, customs and patterns of daily life of the descendants of the conquistadores.

Born in 1898 at her grandfather's hacienda near Las Vegas, New Mexico, she was reared by her grandmother, a Spanish matriarch, from whom she learned both household arts and traditions of a family and culture dating back to early …

In light of increases in Indian Health Service (IHS) staffing and other health services, the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board initiated a reassessment of the impact, necessity, and sufficiency of contracting with county Health departments. This study followed five main objectives: 1) to examine carefully the services to Indians being provided by each county health department with whom IHS currently has a valid contract; 2) to describe what may be the strengths and weaknesses in contracting with county health departments; 3) to provide cost-effective information upon which the Portland Area Indian Health Board could jointly base any decisions regarding …

Certain groups of American Indians of the Sonoran biome have a particularly high rate of adult-onset diabetes. Studies of this group have shown that a wide variety of disease conditions occur at elevated levels among the identified diabetics, as compared to the non-diabetic population. This data suggests that care for diabetics should include preventive measures against these corollary conditions.
