Historic Break With The Past: The New Foreign Investment Possibilities In The Mexican Oil And Gas Industry, Alejandro Lopez-Velarde, Philip D. Vasquez

Natural Resources Journal

One of the missing oil and gas jurisdictions in the world for private participation was finally opened when the Mexican government reformed its constitution and congressional laws last December 2013 and August 2014. Now, the private sector will be able to participate in the exploration, extraction, refining, transportation, storage, distribution, and commercialization of petroleum and its by-products through (i) contracts to be granted by the National Hydrocarbons Commission, and/or (ii) permits to be granted by the Ministry of Energy or the Regulatory Energy Commission. These are important modifications not only for the Mexican oil and gas industry, but also for …

How Are School Dropout Rates Related To Household Characteristics: Analysis Of Survey Data From Bangladesh, Nusrat Farah Jan 2015

How Are School Dropout Rates Related To Household Characteristics: Analysis Of Survey Data From Bangladesh, Nusrat Farah

Himalayan Research Papers Archive

This paper presents evidence on how children’s educational outcomes are affected by their family characteristics and their social background. We particularly focus on the school dropout rate of children by using data from the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) 2011. Recent research suggests that increasing dropout rates tend to raise inequality in income distribution which in turn can lead to greater school dropouts (Kearney and Levine, 2015; Heckman and LaFontaine, 2008). It is therefore important to understand the factors underlying school dropout rates.

In this paper, to make use of available data, we estimate the dropout in two different …

Knowledge, Information, And Water Treatment Behavior Of Residents In The Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, Hari Katuwal, Mona K. Qassim, José A. Pagán, Jennifer A. Thacher, Alok K. Bohara

Development Journal of the South

Access to safe drinking water plays a crucial role in the overall social and economic development of a community. Unsafe water delivered to household taps increases the risks of waterborne diseases and threatens population health. Consumers can adopt a number of averting behaviors such as filtering or boiling their water. While these approaches are effective in reducing the likelihood of contracting a waterborne disease, not all households treat their water. Given this, it is important to develop a better understanding of factors that influence water treatment behavior. In this paper, we examine determinants of water treatment behavior using survey data …

Game Time

Game Time lessons are comprised of 4 parts: Warm-Up, Activity 1, Activity 2, and Cool Down. Game time lessons require teachers to lead games that have rules children must follow. Most Game Time activities require more space than an average classroom provides, so teachers are encouraged to teach Game Time lessons outside or in a large room such as a gymnasium or meeting room.

Uncertainty Communication Solution In Neutrosophic Key, Florentin Smarandache, Bianca Tedorescu, Mirela Teodorescu Jan 2015

Uncertainty Communication Solution In Neutrosophic Key, Florentin Smarandache, Bianca Tedorescu, Mirela Teodorescu

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

This study is the first step of a research that points out the solving of uncertainties in process analysis. The research is based on Neutrosophy Theory (Smarandache, 1995), a new concept of states treatment with a generous applicability to sciences, like artificial intelligence (Vladareanu et al, 2014).

A Comparison Of Combined Overlap Block Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (Cobfcm) And Combined Overlap Block Neutrosophic Cognitive Map (Cobncm) In Finding The Hidden Patterns And Indeterminacies In Psychological Causal Models: Case Study Of Adhd, Hojjatollah Farahani, Florentin Smarandache, Lihshing Leigh Wang Jan 2015

A Comparison Of Combined Overlap Block Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (Cobfcm) And Combined Overlap Block Neutrosophic Cognitive Map (Cobncm) In Finding The Hidden Patterns And Indeterminacies In Psychological Causal Models: Case Study Of Adhd, Hojjatollah Farahani, Florentin Smarandache, Lihshing Leigh Wang

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In spite of researchers’ concerns to find causalities, reviewing the literature of psychological studies one may argue that the classical statistical methods applied in order to find causalities are unable to find uncertainty and indeterminacies of the relationships between concepts.

In this paper, we introduce two methods to find effective solutions by identifying “hidden” patterns in the patients’ cognitive maps. Combined Overlap Block Fuzzy Cognitive Map (COBFCM) and Combined Overlap Block Neutrosophic Map (COBNCM) are effective when the number of concepts can be grouped and are large in numbers. In the first section, we introduce COBFCM, COBNCM, their applications, and …

Chemical Interactions And Mobility Of Uranium Near Abandoned Mine Wastes At Rio Paguate, Laguna New Mexico, Cherie L. De Vore Jan 2015

Chemical Interactions And Mobility Of Uranium Near Abandoned Mine Wastes At Rio Paguate, Laguna New Mexico, Cherie L. De Vore

Water Resources Professional Project Reports

The legacy of U mining activities in New Mexico has resulted in a number of abandoned mine sites that have not been adequately managed or remediated. An investigation of the chemical interactions and mobility of uranium (U) near abandoned mine wastes was performed at a site located in Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico. Elevated U concentrations (ranging from 65 to 710 μg/L) were observed in surface water below an abandoned uranium mine. These U concentrations significantly decrease (ranging from 5.4 to 6.4 μg/L) downstream at a reservoir five kilometers below the mine. Our water data suggest that U forms aqueous complexes …

Geochemical Analysis And Modeling For An Artificial Aquifer Recharge Study In The Shallow Zone Squifer Near Pojoaque, New Mexico., Edward-James (E.J.) Anderson

Water Resources Professional Project Reports

An artificial aquifer recharge project is currently being evaluated as a component of the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System as part of the Aamodt Litigation Settlement Act. The purpose of the project is for aquifer storage, with later retrieval as drinking water. The total diversion of San Juan Chama Project Water (SJCPW) for this project is approximately 4,000 acre-feet per year. It should be noted that some of the SJCPW would be treated and put directly into the drinking water system. The goal of this project is to extract the SJCPW from the Rio Grande and pump it into two …
