Resiliency Of Healthcare Workers During The Sars-Cov-2 Pandemic, Robert Fishwick Jul 2021

Resiliency Of Healthcare Workers During The Sars-Cov-2 Pandemic, Robert Fishwick

M.S. in Health Care Management

The novel Coronavirus-2019 created a world-wide health care crisis generating an overwhelming burden of illness and mortality resulting in physical and emotional distress of health care workers. Frontline healthcare workers remain fearful of infection, death, and the risk of COVID-19 transmission not only to themselves, but to their families. In many cases, these individuals developed post-traumatic stress and other mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual concerns, resulting in a decline of resilience and burn out. The aim of this project is to identify issues linking emotional stress, anxiety, and depression secondary to the COVID-19 pandemic in frontline respiratory therapists working in …

Supporting Student Completion: Implementing Strategic Academic Scheduling, Cari Perreault

M. S. in Project Management

Community Colleges have been striving to increase student retention and completion. Students are busier than ever and recognizing that, it is important for them to be able to attend classes around their lives, not life around their classes. Transitioning to a yearlong schedule and opening yearlong registration enables students to do just that, breaking down barriers to success. Strategic academic scheduling creates a more direct and achievable pathway for students and increases average class size to promote more constructive discussion and diversity, but also meets business needs of the institution by minimizing unnecessary course sections and reduced low-enrolled courses.

Platinum Brewing Company, Patrick Rolfe Jul 2021

Platinum Brewing Company, Patrick Rolfe

M. S. in Project Management

As an avid homebrewer, I have always had a desire to eventually open, manage and operate my own large-scale brewery, replicating the success my parents achieved from the same desire in the early 1990’s. With military retirement on the horizon, now seemed to be the time for me to start planning this project. Merging the requirements of the MSPM degree program with my dream to accomplish this goal has resulted in an executable plan for my future project. In this scenario, there is no degree better suited to do so than becoming a Master of Project Management!

Survivors: The Forgotten Followers Of Toxic Leadership, Jason Grant Jul 2021

Survivors: The Forgotten Followers Of Toxic Leadership, Jason Grant

M.S. in Leadership

This research calls for more research about toxic followers. The current body of research identifies two general categories. Generally, followers misbehave by either conforming or colluding with the toxic leader. However, given the complicated nature of defining toxic leadership as a relatively new leadership style and even less literature about susceptible followers, there may be a third type of follower not yet understood; survivors.

Creating An Introductory Workshop For Leaders On Emotional Intelligence, Ashley Eskel Jul 2021

Creating An Introductory Workshop For Leaders On Emotional Intelligence, Ashley Eskel

M.S. in Leadership

This proposal aims to discuss literature relevant to introductory findings on emotional intelligence (EI) to establish the foundation for the creation of an introductory workshop for leaders. While it may be common knowledge that leaders require certain attributes to effectively manage those they lead, research has found that an awareness of emotional intelligence as a skill is highly effective in developing leaders who not only inspire, but also encourage employee engagement and retention by route of fostering a positive work environment. As this project is not in the form of a formal research paper, the intent of this proposal is …

Four Tenets: Success In Overcoming A Crisis – Similarities Between Winston Churchill And University Administrator’S Leadership, Jason Graves Jul 2021

Four Tenets: Success In Overcoming A Crisis – Similarities Between Winston Churchill And University Administrator’S Leadership, Jason Graves

M.S. in Leadership

Being prepared for a crisis is important for any leader. Although time passes, the fundamentals of strong leadership often remain routed in specific principles. This research sets out to illustrate how modern university leadership, specifically at the University of New Hampshire, navigated the COVID-19 pandemic using similar strategies to that of Winston Churchill during World War II. Four tenets are themes throughout the research which are: communication, collaboration, partnership and the advancement of technology. Leaders can often look to the past to prepare for crises in the future.

Emotional Intelligence: The Key To Staff Retention, Ashley Wilson

M.S. in Leadership

This research intends to make a case that leaders with emotional intelligence are the key to maintaining good employees using two primary resources both academic journals and employee questionnaires completed by non-profit area agency staff. This literature review will make a compelling argument that emotional intelligence in leaders is a pertinent characteristic when determining the cause behind staff retention. It will conclude with ways in which leaders can learn emotional intelligence and use that knowledge to ensure job satisfaction and strengthen staff retention.

Leadership Styles Of Music Ensemble Conductors, Tyler Gioacchini Jul 2021

Leadership Styles Of Music Ensemble Conductors, Tyler Gioacchini

M.S. in Leadership

There is existing literature discussing musical ensemble conductors as leaders which assesses leadership qualities from the perspective of ensemble member perception and experience. Although this follower-focused orientation is valuable, there is an opportunity to understand how conductors act in leaderful ways. To understand how conductors are filling the role of leaders for musical ensembles, this research discusses feedback gathered from several conductors about how they incorporate characteristics and behaviors of servant and transformational leadership into their work.

Short-Term Effects Of Thin-Layer Sand Placement On Salt Marsh Grasses: A Marsh Organ Field Experiment, Andrew R. Payne, David M. Burdick, Gregg E. Moore, Cathleen Wigand Jul 2021

Short-Term Effects Of Thin-Layer Sand Placement On Salt Marsh Grasses: A Marsh Organ Field Experiment, Andrew R. Payne, David M. Burdick, Gregg E. Moore, Cathleen Wigand

Jackson Estuarine Laboratory

Salt marshes can build in elevation with sea-level rise through accumulation of inorganic sediment and organic matter, but marshes worldwide are under threat of drowning due to rapid rates of sea-level rise that outpace natural marsh building rates. The application of a thin layer of sediment to the marsh surface (thin-layer placement [TLP]) is a tool to build elevation and decrease flooding stress, but its effects on marsh plants are understudied, especially in New England. In a novel application of a marsh organ experiment (i.e. rows of pots at different elevations), the addition of 10 cm of sand to pots …

Process Documentation, Leadership, And Ice Cream: A Case Study, Paige Mcafee

M.S. in Leadership

This research seeks to understand the potential positive impact of process documentation and development on leadership practices, specifically in family-owned, retail, or food service businesses. Leaders face challenges such as clearly communicating the need for change, managing knowledge effectively, creating sustainable and realistic continuous improvement plans, and implementing better succession planning. Process documentation and development help improve upon these issues by defining processes and showing where improvements can be made and ensuring all knowledge is documented and organized for easy access, which helps both continuous improvement and succession planning efforts. Process documentation and development have a positive impact on leadership …

More than four in ten working Granite Staters have seen their pay increase at work over the past year, but six in ten say their responsibilities have increased and one-third have seen their hours increase. Nearly a quarter of working state residents are likely to look for a new job in the next year but less than half are confident they would be able to find a new job …

One-Quarter Of Nh Residents & Nearly Half Of Trump Voters Still Unlikely To Receive Covid-19 Vaccine 6/25/2021, Unh Survey Center

All UNH Survey Center Polls

Seven in ten New Hampshire residents report having been vaccinated against COVID-19, a very small percentage still plan to get vaccinated, but a quarter don't plan to get vaccinated. Those who voted for Donald Trump are more than five times as likely as Biden voters to say they don't plan to get vaccinated. Among those who are not vaccinated, very few would change their mind even if advised to by their doctor or family or if the vaccine were required by their employer.
