Young Granite Staters Wary Of Prediction Markets, Older Residents Unaware 3/17/2026, Unh Survey Center

All UNH Survey Center Polls

Few Granite Staters have participated in prediction markets and nearly half of state residents have never heard of them. However, three-quarters of those under 35 have at least heard of prediction markets and a majority say they understand how they work. Granite Staters believe it should be legal to bet on sports using prediction markets but think it should be illegal to bet on elections, the economy, or political events like war. A plurality are unsure about the federal government regulating prediction markets, with those on the political left in favor of more regulation. Nearly two-thirds of Granite Staters under …

Employing A Hysteresis Approach To Analyze Shifts In Tree Physiological Thresholds In Response To Drought, Mauro Brum, Annie Deslauriers, Matthew A. Vadeboncoeur, Tanner Frost, David Moore, Caroline Rodrigues Da Silva, Daniel B. Metcalfe, Heidi Asbjornsen

Drought‐induced tree mortality underscores the need for improved physiological models to predict tree responses to water stress. We employed a hysteresis modelling approach analyzing diel water absorption and desorption cycles to understand drought‐induced shifts in physiological thresholds. We applied this approach to sap flow (Js), stem diameter fluctuation (SDF), stem volumetric water content fluctuation (SVWCF), and vapour pressure deficit (VPD), datasets from two throughfall reduction experiments in contrasting ecosystems: a cloud forest (Peru) and a temperate forest (USA). Using a generalised transcendental equation, we quantified five diurnal hysteresis loops (Js:VPD, Js:SDF, Js:SVWCF, SDF:VPD, SVWCF:VPD) and derived hysteresis parameters (centroids, area, …

Public School-Affiliated Preschool Programs In New Hampshire, 2024–2025 School Year, Tyrus Parker, Kamala Nasirova, Jess Carson

Carsey Publications

In this brief, Tyrus Parker, Kamala Nasirova, and Jess Carson report on the results from the second annual New Hampshire preschool in public schools survey. The authors find that, in the 2024–2025 school year, there were 147 public school-affiliated preschool programs in the state. In total, public school-affiliated preschool programs reported serving 5,471 children statewide, an increase of 7.9 percent compared to reported enrollment in the prior school year. The authors note that these programs can be a valuable option for New Hampshire families in the state's early learning ecosystem.

ASARCO Inc. v. Kadish is the most important Supreme Court decision addressing the adjudication in state courts of federal claims that Article III’s case-or-controversy requirements would bar lower federal courts from hearing. But there are two serious problems with the reasoning of ASARCO: one involving an error of omission and the other an error of commission. ASARCO’s error of omission is its apparent assumption that a party barred from asserting a federal claim in federal court because of a lack of redressable Article III injury caused by the conduct complained of should face no barriers to obtaining relief on the …
