Stay The Course: Leveraging Maritime Traffic Patterns To Predict Future Behavior, Sean Kohlbrenner, Alexandros Troupiotis-Kapeliaris, Christos Kastrisios, Dimitris Zissis

Sudden changes in a vessel's path are common, complicating efforts to predict future behavior. In this work, we leverage existing traffic to develop an algorithm that makes informed trajectory predictions. Our method begins with analyzing historical maritime traffic using AIS data from vessels in southern New England. This analysis culminates in creating representative trajectories of this data that are validated against nautical charts. The algorithm matches a given path to these trajectories and uses them to model their behavior. This developing effort aims to reduce the cognitive load for mariners and support autonomous navigation efforts by predicting the probable movement …

Granite Staters Support Immigration Restrictions; Support Autoworker & Actor Strikes 10/6/2023, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Granite Staters are considerably more likely to support building a wall on the southern border and less likely to support a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants than they were in 2017. Most New Hampshire residents support or are neutral towards the current strikes by unions representing autoworkers and actors and a majority have positive views towards unions in general. Very few in New Hampshire support Senator Tommy Tuberville's “hold” on many military promotions and a majority oppose the Senate relaxing their dress code.

A small majority of New Hampshire residents disapprove of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy's recent decision to launch an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden about his actions related to Hunter Biden’s foreign business activities. Only four in ten Granite Staters think that Biden's actions in this matter are impeachable. Few state residents think it is likely that Biden will be impeached by the House of Representatives or convicted by the Senate as a result of this investigation. Republicans are far more likely than Democrats and Independents to think Biden has committed impeachable offenses or will be impeached by the House. …
