In the wake of several high-profile decisions, majorities of New Hampshire residents disapprove of the Supreme Court and think Justices make decisions based on their personal opinions rather than the law. A plurality of Granite Staters oppose the Court's ruling in Trump v. U.S. which defined presidential immunity for some of their actions in office. On abortion policies, fewer Granite Staters than in 2022 say abortion should be legal in all circumstances and state residents remain divided on a 2021 law banning abortion after 24 weeks in New Hampshire.

A majority of New Hampshire residents think President Joe Biden should withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, including a majority of Democrats. Granite Staters are less likely than in 2023 to think Biden is physically and mentally capable of being president and only a quarter think he will be capable of fulfilling his responsibilities for another four-year term. Despite this, relatively few think Biden will withdraw from the race. If Biden does withdraw, Biden supporters think Vice President Kamala Harris should succeed him.

Exploring The Role Of Disciplinary Knowledge In Students' Covariational Reasoning During Graphical Interpretation, Nigar Altindis, Kathleen A. Bowe, Brock Couch, Christopher F. Bauer, Melissa L. Aikens

Background: This study investigates undergraduate STEM students’ interpretation of quantities and quantitative relationships on graphical representations in biology (population growth) and chemistry (titration) contexts. Interviews (n = 15) were conducted to explore the interplay between students’ covariational reasoning skills and their use of disciplinary knowledge to form mental images during graphical interpretation.

Results: Our findings suggest that disciplinary knowledge plays an important role in students’ ability to interpret scientific graphs. Interviews revealed that using disciplinary knowledge to form mental images of represented quantities may enhance students’ covariational reasoning abilities, while lacking it may hinder more sophisticated covariational reasoning. Change is desirable by organizations seeking to increase their competitive advantage and the United States Space Force is not immune to those same demands. As the United States’ newest military service, the Space Force initiated sweeping changes in an attempt to modernize how space operations are performed. Each of these changes imposed themselves upon stakeholders across the Space Force enterprise and my project sought understanding about their effects. With an increasing rate during the preceding decades, literary publications show linkages between the success or failure of an organization’s desired change outcomes and the level of commitment demonstrated by its employees. …

The terms “offshore” and “open ocean” have been used to describe aquaculture sites that are further from the coast or in higher energy environments. Neither term has been clearly defined in the scientific literature nor in a legal context, and the terms are often used interchangeably. These and other related terms (for example “exposed”, “high-energy”) variously refer to aspects of a site such as the geographic distance from shore or infrastructure, the level of exposure to large waves and strong currents, the geographic fetch, the water depth, or some combination of these parameters. In this perspectives brief, author Bruce Mallory discusses how trust in social, civic, and institutional structures is a necessary ingredient for a healthy democratic society. Erosion of trust in democratic societies has negative effects for individuals, communities, and public participation in political and civic matters. Data from surveys of New Hampshire residents as well as national samples over the past decade show declining levels of trust in social and political institutions. This has been exacerbated in recent years by the global pandemic as well as increasingly stark political and social divisions.

Minor sex trafficking is an urgent public health problem, but we lack data about how such experiences impact health and health care access. Utilizing data collected from in-depth interviews with 35 adult survivors of minor sex trafficking across the U.S. we explored the physical and psychological healthcare access and healthcare experiences of adult survivors of minor sex trafficking. Negative healthcare experiences before, during, and following sex trafficking foster a lack of trust and confidence in healthcare systems as adults. Recommendations are provided to help overcome barriers to meeting healthcare needs and improving health care experiences for survivors of minor sex …

NOAA Office of Response & Restoration’s Disaster Preparedness Program partnered with University of New Hampshire’s Coastal Response Research Center (CRRC) to conduct a two day workshop at NOAA’s Center for Weather and Climate Prediction in College Park, MD. This workshop identifies overarching concepts, knowledge gaps, challenges, and research regarding Pre-Production Plastic Pellets (PPPPs), colloquially known as nurdles. The resulting conversations explored state of the art technologies deployed during a spill event and complications introduced to response and recovery efforts by the physical properties and fate and transport of PPPPs.
