Perinatal Patient Education On Substance Use Risk Factors In The Age Of The Opioid Crisis, Rebecca Ane Leary, Alyssa O'Brien

From 2014 to 2016, NH ranked first for fentanyl and all opioid-related overdose deaths per capita in the United States (Moore et al., 2021). In 2016 the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS) found that there are many repercussions of this opioid crisis including overdose deaths, child and elder abuse, and newborns experiencing withdrawal. In utero substance exposure places a child at a higher risk for developmental, behavioral, and physical health concerns. To address this gap, a secondary data analysis using NH Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) data from 2013 to 2020 was conducted. PRAMS …

Safeguarding The Lives Of Children Affected By Boko Haram: Application Of The Safe Model Of Child Protection To A Rights-Based Situation Analysis, Rosie O'Connor, Theresa S. Betancourt, Ngozi V. Enelamah

The Boko Haram insurgency in northeast Nigeria is responsible for the highest number of lives lost in Africa in the past decade. The country has witnessed significant violations of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Nigeria has signed and ratified. For instance, Nigeria had the second-highest number of children recruited to armed groups and the third-highest number of abductions in 2018. Current humanitarian efforts primarily target camps for internally displaced persons, while state strategies focus mainly on addressing security through combatant-targeted interventions. Covenants To Discriminate: How The Anti-Lgbt Policies Of Participating Voucher Schools Might Violate The State Action Doctrine, Preston C. Green Iii, Julie F. Mead, Suzanne E. Eckes
The University of New Hampshire Law Review
This article analyzes the legal arguments that students might make to compel states that subsidize private education through voucher, tax credit scholarship, and ESA programs to offer these programs on an equal basis, regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity of the student or members of the student’s family. The first section provides an overview of voucher programs and discusses the prevalence of participating schools with anti-LGBT admissions policies. The second section evaluates constitutional challenges that students could make to invalidate the anti-LGBT admissions policies of participating voucher schools under the state action doctrine.
