Most Granite Staters Protected Against Covid-19 By Vaccine Or Recent Infection 3/1/2022, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Reported COVID-19 cases among Granite Staters have fallen abruptly since January. Currently, one-quarter say they have tested positive for COVID since the pandemic began. Six in ten adults say they are vaccinated and boosted, another 17% are vaccinated but not boosted, and 22% are not vaccinated at all. Overall, seven in eight Granite Staters likely have some protection against COVID-19 through vaccination or recent infection. Virtually no unvaccinated adults plan to get vaccinated, most frequently citing a lack of belief in the vaccine's effectiveness. Only four in ten children in the state aged 5-17 are vaccinated against COVID-19 and almost …

Bipartisan Support For Nh Marijuana Legislation; Most Consider Legislature's Redistricting Maps Unfair 2/25/2022, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
More than two-thirds of Granite Staters support proposed legislation to legalize marijuana, allowing it to be sold in state Liquor stores. While only one-third of New Hampshire residents have seen the legislative redistricting maps proposed by the State Legislature, nearly all Democrats and Independents who have seen them consider them to be unfair, while even Republicans are closely divided. Residents are closely divided on another bill that would eliminate required yearly automobile inspections.

Granite Staters Wary Of Getting Involved In Ukraine; Biden Job Approval Underwater In Nh 2/24/2022, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
As the crisis in Ukraine explodes, a majority of New Hampshire residents want to use diplomacy and sanctions to pressure Russia and less than half back sending weapons or aid to Ukraine and few want to send American troops. Amid the crisis, approval of Biden's handling of foreign affairs and his overall job performance has improved somewhat since January, but a majority continue to disapprove of his handling of the economy.

Commentary: The Pragmatic Consequentialism Of Justice Breyer, John M. Greabe
Law Faculty Scholarship
[Excerpt] "Justice Stephen Breyer’s announcement of his intention to retire at the end of the Supreme Court’s current term provides occasion to contrast his approach to judging with the very different approach of the court majority he leaves behind. The contrast is frequently explained in partisan terms: Justice Breyer is a “liberal” who was appointed by a Democratic president (Bill Clinton), whereas the majority is “conservative,” having been appointed by three different Republican presidents (George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump).
The use of partisan labels to describe the different approaches to judging employed by the court’s two …

Rural America Lost Population Over The Past Decade For The First Time In History, Kenneth M. Johnson
Rural America Lost Population Over The Past Decade For The First Time In History, Kenneth M. Johnson
Carsey Publications
In this brief Carsey Senior Demographer Kenneth Johnson examines rural demographic trends between 2010 and 2020 using data from the 2020 Census. The economic turbulence beginning with the Great Recession and continuing through the next decade had a significant demographic impact on rural America. Between 2010 and 2020 rural population loss was widespread, with more than two-thirds of all nonmetropolitan counties losing population. With fewer births, more deaths, and more people leaving than moving in, rural America experienced an overall population loss for the first time in history. Population losses were greatest in remote rural counties, but even in rural …

Biden Approval In Nh Plunges As Approval Among Democrats Falls 1/26/2022, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Approval of Joe Biden's performance as President has fallen rapidly since December among Granite Staters and is at the lowest point in his presidency. Much of this decline is due to a fall in support among Democrats, only three-quarters of whom approve of Biden's performance. Less than one in five Granite Staters and only two in five NH Democrats, believe the country is headed in the right direction.
