Sending Love Home: The Effects Of Global Care Chains On Economics, Family, And Agency, Emily Haley
Sending Love Home: The Effects Of Global Care Chains On Economics, Family, And Agency, Emily Haley
Perspectives
Globalization has allowed for an increasing interconnectedness of people all around the globe, but this comes at a price to the livelihoods of many individuals and traditional structures that attempt to remain unaffected from the influence of globalization. Issues like family relations and international migration are prevalent in the Philippines, where many women become migrant workers to support their families back home. These women take jobs in families as domestic workers, doing household chores and caring for the children while the mothers enter the workforce. This process is known as a global care chain, a term coined by the sociologist …
Lgbtqiap+ University Students And Likelihood Of Self-Harm, Evan Smith
Lgbtqiap+ University Students And Likelihood Of Self-Harm, Evan Smith
Perspectives
Self-harm is defined as the direct, deliberate destruction or alteration of body tissue (Bakken and Gunter 2012). This research is important because previous research has found that university students are likely to engage in self-harm and that it is an often-overlooked problem among both young people and university students (Gollust et al. 2008; Whitlock et al. 2011; Bakken and Gunter 2012). Additionally, the more we know about self-harm and self-harm trends the more we can do to reduce it in our communities.
In crafting my research question I examined previous research of self-harm on college campuses. One of the studies …

Acquisition Planning: A Process For Contract Support And Timely Budget Execution, David Devoy
M. S. in Management
The purpose of this action research project is to develop acquisition policy and procedures for the New Hampshire Army National Guard to decrease acquisition risk and increase budget execution. Contracting data collected reveals that 47% of acquisitions occurred during the last four months of the fiscal year 2017. Internal and external factors will be analyzed to determine an appropriate course of action and implementation plan. The project will enlist subject matter experts from across the National Guard. The end state is to ensure customers are supported through timely execution of contracts and efficient use of resources.

Addressing Childhood Adversity And Social Determinants Inpediatric Primary Care:Recommendations For New Hampshire, Marguerite Corvini, Katherine Cox, Molly O’Neil, Jeanne Ryer Edd, Holly Deblois Tutko
All Materials
Research has clearly demonstrated the significant short- and long-term impacts of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the social determinants of health (SDOH) on child health and well-being.1 Identifying and addressing ACEs and SDOH will require a coordinated and systems-based approach. Pediatric primary care* plays a critical role in this system, and there is a growing emphasis on these issues that may be impacting a family. As awareness of ACEs and SDOH grows, so too does the response effort within the State of New Hampshire. Efforts to address ACEs and the SDOH have been initiated by a variety of stakeholders, including …

The Opioid Crisis In Rural And Small Town America, Shannon M. Monnat, Khary K. Rigg
The Opioid Crisis In Rural And Small Town America, Shannon M. Monnat, Khary K. Rigg
Carsey Publications
In this brief, authors Shannon Monnat and Khary Rigg examine rural versus urban differences in opioid mortality and identify challenges for dealing with the opioid crisis in rural areas. They report that, in 2016, opioid mortality rates were higher in urban than in rural counties, particularly in the Midwest, but rates have increased more in rural than in urban counties over the past two decades. Since 2010, the share of drug overdose deaths involving prescription opioids has declined, but the share of deaths involving heroin and synthetic opioids has spiked in both rural and urban areas. The most dramatic increases …
