Comparison Of Household-Scale Rainwater Harvesting And Greywater Recycling Systems In Boston Through Spatial Optimization Of Cost And Energy Savings, Shannon K. Stang
Comparison Of Household-Scale Rainwater Harvesting And Greywater Recycling Systems In Boston Through Spatial Optimization Of Cost And Energy Savings, Shannon K. Stang
Master's Theses and Capstones
Household decentralized water systems, including rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling, are often touted as a means to improve the sustainability and resiliency of centralized municipal systems. This research is focused on the spatial distribution of life cycle energy savings and consumer cost savings of adopting decentralized systems for individual households in the city of Boston. Using a Python model simulation, the optimal type and size of decentralized system for each household is selected based on the cost and energy comparison between the installation, operation, and maintenance of the new system and the process of treatment and delivery from the existing …
Aggregated Reverse Time Transfer, Brandon Smith
Aggregated Reverse Time Transfer, Brandon Smith
Master's Theses and Capstones
Monitoring mechanisms are a critical component of the security and maintenance of high precision timing networks. Any and all guarantees of determinism and correctness are invalidated if a synchronous network malfunctions or is compromised by an attacker. Existing mechanisms allow for a comprehensive view of the distribution of time throughout a network, but they do not scale to large networks. I propose a new method called aggregated reverse time transfer (ARTT), which redefines the existing mechanisms to include a new aggregation scheme that serves the dual purpose of distributed data summarization and anomaly detection for networks of any size. With …
Goodbye And Thanks For All The Fish: The Inevitable Mass Extinction Of Vertebrate Wildlife In The United States By 2100 Ad, Richard Maximus Strahan
Goodbye And Thanks For All The Fish: The Inevitable Mass Extinction Of Vertebrate Wildlife In The United States By 2100 Ad, Richard Maximus Strahan
Master's Theses and Capstones
The last stages of a global mass extinction event (GME) that started in the Pleistocene is likely to be continuing across the nations of the Earth. In the United States (“Nation”), it will likely climax (“Climax”) by 2100 AD when it will wipe out about 80% of endemic, vertebrate wildlife species. It will reduce the populations and ranges of the Nation’s surviving vertebrate species to minimal values. This will be the 6th such mass extinction of wildlife species to have occurred in the Earth’s history.
This is a reasonable inference from available data reported in journal articles since 1990 on …

Granite Staters Approve Of Sununu's Handling Of Coronavirus, Stay At Home Order 4/22/2020, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Nine in ten Granite Staters approve of the job Governor Chris Sununu has done handling the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. A similarly large majority support Sununu's "stay at home" order for the state. Granite Staters say maintaining the stay at home order is more important than re-opening the NH economy by a two-to-one margin. Majorities of Granite Staters believe that state beaches, gyms, and churches should be closed during the stay at home order, while a plurality believe that state parks should stay open during the order.

[Excerpt] This column is the second in a series of three considering some potential implications of June Medical Services v. Russo, a case involving a constitutional challenge to a Louisiana law regulating access to abortion services. The United States Supreme Court heard arguments in the case on March 4, 2020. A decision is expected by the end of June. More on the case below.

Aims. Our goal is to develop and provide an open end-to-end (Sun to Earth) space weather modeling system, enabling to combine (“couple”) various space weather models in an integrated tool, with the models located either locally or geographically distributed, so as to better understand the challenges in creating such an integrated environment. Methods. The physics-based models are installed on different compute clusters and can be run interactively and remotely and that can be coupled over the internet, using open source “high-level architecture” software, to make complex modeling chains involving models from the Sun to the Earth. Visualization tools have been …
