The subject of farm land price is intimately intertwined with the economic and social welfare of farm people, and even with the financial structure of the nation. A detailed, year-by-year record of farm land sales and prices from several typical Nebraska farming areas over a 61-year period may throw light on the behavior of land values in the counties studied and in similar farming areas, and may help towards supplying a better basis for land price analysis and forecasting than now exists. The skull and tusks of the Thurston onnty mastodon, found near Pender, have recently been remounted and added to the long list of mastodons, mammoths, and modern elephants to be seen in the cases of Elephant Hall, in the Nebraska State Museum. When found, the skull, teeth, and tusks were encased in Pleistocene gravel, and were in a state of perfect preservation. Contrary to instruc~on, they were pried out of their bed with poles before the wI"::,ter could reach the spot, and the dome of the skull was ruined. The purpose of this bulletin is to figure and describe a .amel brought to light in the field season of 1933, which seems to be the giant of all camels found in the State. The specimen consists of the right ramus with the symphysial portion. The mandible is 26% inches long, or about the length of one's outstretched arm to the finger tips. This jaw is nine inches longer than that of Camelops kansanus. Such an extraordinary jaw indicates a camel nearly twice as large as Alticamelus altus. On February 9, 1934, a pair of rhinoceroses, Trigonias osborni, was installed in the Founder's Room in Morrill Hall, the Nebraska State Museum. They are figured and accorded brief consideration here in order to maintain the printed records of such acquisitions in the Nebraska State Museum. The two skeletons, carefully posed, were put in the south wall case to be associated with a pair of Diceratherium from Morrill County. and the mounted skeletons of two Brown County Te leo ceras. In the meantime an interesting new form unlike that of any species falling within our experience presents itself from the Pleistocene of Cherry County, Nebraska. The new specimen cannot be assigned a place in any of the four following genera: Preptoceras, Euceratherium, Ovibos, or Bootherium, but may possibly be referable to the genus Symbos, to which we are assigning it provisionally. Nebraska Tractor Tests

All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.

All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.

TEST A: The manufacturer's representative operates the tractor for a minimum of 12 hours using light to heavy drawbar loads in each gear.

This serves as a period for limber up, general observation and adjustments. Adjustments that are permissible include valve tappet clearance, breaker ,point gap, spark plug gaps, clutch and others of a similar nature. No new parts or accessories can be installed without having mention made of it in the report. No data' are recorded during this preliminary run except the time that the engine is operated.

Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins

A new disease of the white elm has been found to be common in eastern Nebraska. The causal organism has been isolated and its pathogenicity proved by inoculation. The fungus belongs to the genus Cephalosporium and is considered to be the same as that described by Curtis May of Ohio and found by him in specimens obtained in Iowa, Missouri, New York, and Washington, D.C. The morphology and cultural characters of the organism are described.
