One important form of wetlands habitat in Nebraska is the “Fresh-water Basins”; their importance extends to both waterfowl and upland game. The fresh-water basins are located primarily in south-central Nebraska. They are closed drainages, usually from one to 40 acres but ranging up to 1,000 acres, formed in the gently rolling loess plains. Soils are silt loam and the somewhat impervious soils in flat or depressed position receive and retain the largest amounts of water. This caused leaching and concentration of clay in the subsoil forming a soil type peculiar to these areas known as "Scott silt-loam," a heavy clay-loam …

It is generally recognized that canine animals comprise an important reservoir of parasites and diseases transmissible to man. These animals, including the domestic dog, have unusual economic importance in arctic and subarctic North America, particularly for the Eskimos and Indians living in more remote regions. These aboriginal peoples continually have close association with canine animals and would appear to be quite vulnerable to infection from this source. That this is true is already evident, although data on morbidity from animal-borne diseases are far from complete. This study was based on monthly observations of all Holstein, Ayrshire, Guernsey and Jersey males born in the University of Nebraska dairy herd between 1922 and 1942. There were varying numbers of animals for the different months of age for the several breeds. Measurements of weight, slope of the rump, thickness of skin, and 13 linear measurements were taken monthly, from birth to disposal of the animals. This paper is a revision of the generic nomenclature of a few radiolarian genera whose species are good zone and index fossils. The following genera are revised more or less extensively: Sethamphorus, Sethocephala, Dictyocephalus, Theocampe, and Tricolocampe. The following names are reduced to synonomy: Dictyocryphalus, Cryptocephalus, Dictyoprora (1882), Platycryphalus, Dictyoprora (1887), Theocamptra, Theocampana, Tricolocampium, Tricolocamptra, and Theocampula. Diabolocampe is described as a new genus.

Some species of the genus Taenia Linnaeus, 1758, are morphologically so similar in the adult stage that their separation is very difficult. Complicating this problem is the questionable validity of certain of these species which have been insufficiently characterized. There are two species, however, the adults of which possess well defined morphological difference but which have been repeatedly confused despite their having been adequately described by early investigators. These cestodes, Taenia crassiceps (Zeder, 1800) and T. polyacantha Leuckart, 1856, have for many years been recognized solely by their larval characteristics under the misconception that the adults were indistinguishable.
