The purpose of this article is to clarify issues of gender relevant to the practice of consultation with classroom teachers. Social psychological and educational considerations are reviewed as grounding for gender-fair educational practices which consultation can help to bring about. Finally, the specific implications of this theoretical and empirical grounding for the practice of organizational, behavioral, and mental health consultation are explored.

Complex Index-Of-Refraction Measurements For Rp-1 Liquid Rocket Fuel, Dennis R. Alexander, Ramu Kaiwala, Robert D. Kubik, Scott A. Schaub
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications
Complex index-of-refraction values of RP-1 liquid rocket fuel are reported at laser wavelengths of 0.193 m (ArF excimer), 0.4765 m (argon ion), 0.488 im (argon ion), 0.5145 ji.m (argon ion), 0.532 m (Nd-YAG, frequency doubled), 0.6328 pm (He-Ne), 1 .064 im (Nd-YAG), and 10.5915 im (C02). The imaginary part of the index of refraction (k) is determined by traditional transmission methods. The real part (flr) at the specific laser lines is determined using reflectance measurements, critical-angle measurements, Mueller matrix elements, and Michelson interferometric measurements. Reflectance measurements are used to obtam n at a wavelength of 0.193 m. The critical-angle method …

Review Of Visions Of The People: A Pictorial History Of Plains Indian Life By Evan M. Maurer, Richmond L. Clow
Review Of Visions Of The People: A Pictorial History Of Plains Indian Life By Evan M. Maurer, Richmond L. Clow
Great Plains Research: A Journal of Natural and Social Sciences (through 2013)
The Minneapolis Institute of Art opened an exhibit in the fall of 1992 titled Visions of the People: A Pictorial History of Plains Indian Life "to honor the evolving Plains tradition by constructing a general overview of their representational arts in all media and time periods" (pp. 6-7). To achieve that goal, the curators assembled works produced by as many "known artists" as possible to end both the namelessness and facelessness which frequently accompanies older pieces of tribal art. An exhibit catalogue, which included five essays, was published to accompany the exhibit.

Review Of Battlefields And Burial Grounds: The Indian Struggle To Protect Ancestral Graves In The United States By Roger C. Echo-Hawk And Walter R. Echo-Hawk, Larry J. Zimmerman
Great Plains Research: A Journal of Natural and Social Sciences (through 2013)
Pawnee efforts during the late 1980s to have the remains of their ancestors returned for reburial drew international attention. Their eventual victory set many legal and ethical precedents for proper treatment of American Indian human remains. Battlefields and Burial Grounds tells the Pawnee story, but in the broader context of the national reburial issue. It is a story of dominant society science versus indigenous beliefs and rights.
The collection and study of Indian remains grew hand in hand with colonialism and the development of American archaeology. Even though there is more than adequate evidence that some of the first collectors …
Rodent-Proof Construction And Exclusion Methods, Rex O. Baker, Gerald R. Bodman, Robert M. Timm
Rodent-Proof Construction And Exclusion Methods, Rex O. Baker, Gerald R. Bodman, Robert M. Timm
Prevention and Control of Wildlife Damage Handbook
The most effective means of limiting rodent damage is rodent-proof construction. New buildings should be designed and built to prevent rodent entry. Rodent-proofing is a good investment. Designing and constructing a rodent-proof building is less expensive than adding rodent-proofing later. Nevertheless, poor maintenance or management practices, such as leaving entry doors and unscreened windows open, will make the bestconstructed building susceptible to rodent entry. Techniques discussed here apply both to new construction and to the modification of existing structures.

The George Eliot Review Online, ISSN: 2831-5375
What can I say about the great writer whom we are gathered here to commemorate that is new, witty or informative or even interesting? After all, you will appreciate that I am not an academic so I can't offer you a Marxist viewpoint, certainly not a feminist one and not even a deconstructionist one. I'm not a biographer either so can't tell you about my latest book, full of such delicious new theories and completely free of any stuffy old evidence to support them. I'm not involved with the media so I can't tell you about camera angles on Dorothea. …
Drought And Southern Africa: A Note From The Harare Regional Drought Monitoring Centre, Leonard S. Uganai
Drought And Southern Africa: A Note From The Harare Regional Drought Monitoring Centre, Leonard S. Uganai
Drought Network News (1994–2001)
Drought is a normal part of southern Africa’s climate and one of the most important natural disasters in southern Africa. In fact, it is becoming increasingly unusual for drought not to occur somewhere in southern Africa each year. The dependence of most southern African economies on rainfed agriculture emphasizes the importance of drought early warning products for short- and long-term decision making in various sectors of the national economies of the region. Following the 1991–92 drought, which ravaged more than 80% of southern Africa, many in southern Africa now realize the value of meteorological information in weather-sensitive decisions. Two Women On The Verge Of A Contextual Breakthrough: Using 'A Feminist Dictionary' In The Literature Classroom, Sheila Reiter, Barbara Dibernard
Two Women On The Verge Of A Contextual Breakthrough: Using 'A Feminist Dictionary' In The Literature Classroom, Sheila Reiter, Barbara Dibernard
Department of English: Faculty Publications
Barbara: The following dialogue relates our experiences using A Feminist Dictionary (AFD) in literature classes. My perspective is that of a feminist teacher who has found AFD to be a useful tool in bringing feminist theory and practice into alignment in the classroom. I believe it is crucial to connect the personal and the public and to connect theory and practice. One of my primary goals as a teacher is to get students to see them selves as agents who are capable of resistance and of personal and social change. In order to facilitate that, we examine hierarchy and power …
Effecting Change By The Use Of Consultative Coaching With The Primary Caregivers Of Language Delayed Preschoolers, Sari Jeanne Giles
Effecting Change By The Use Of Consultative Coaching With The Primary Caregivers Of Language Delayed Preschoolers, Sari Jeanne Giles
Open Access Master's Theses (through 2010)
This study examined the effect of a speech-language pathologist using consultative coaching with the primary caregivers (PCG) of two expressive language delayed preschool children. The coaching was designed to improve the PCG’s use of specific communication behaviors and strategies to facilitate growth in the child’s communicative behaviors. Specifically, the consultative coaching encouraged the PCG to (1) follow the child’s lead (2) use self and parallel talk (3) expand on the child’s verbal productions and (4) use open-ended questions. Two dyads, made up of expressive language delayed preschool children and their primary caregivers, were the subjects in single subject multiple-baseline designs. …
Magnetic And Magneto-Optic Properties Of Sputtered Co/Ni Multilayers, Y. B. Zhang, P. He, John A. Woollam, J. X. Shen, Roger D. Kirby, David J. Sellmyer
Magnetic And Magneto-Optic Properties Of Sputtered Co/Ni Multilayers, Y. B. Zhang, P. He, John A. Woollam, J. X. Shen, Roger D. Kirby, David J. Sellmyer
Roger Kirby Publications
We have investigated the magnetic and magneto-optic properties of Co/Ni multilayers deposited on Ag and Au buffer layers. The samples with Au buffer layers show perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, but those with Ag buffer layers do not. The. structure and degree of crystalline alignment of the buffer layer are evidently crucial to development of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. We also present the results of polar Kerr rotation measurements as a function of wavelength and layer thickness of the multilayers.

Magnetic And Magneto-Optical Properties Of Mn5(Ge1-XMX)3 Alloys With M=Sn, Pb, Y. Zhang, A.P. Runge, Z.S. Shan, David J. Sellmyer
David Sellmyer Publications
We report on the magnetic and magneto-optical properties of the intermetallic alloys Mn5(Ge1-xMx)3, where M=Sn, Pb. Generally, these alloys were ordered ferromagnetically at T≥300 K for x<0.3. The structure of Mn5(Ge1-xSnx)3 remains in the hexagonal Mn5Si3 (hP16) phase up to x=0.25 and then changes to Ni2In (hP6) as x approaches 1. The magnetization and Curie temperature of these alloys is largest for small x and reach a minimum value near x=0.5. The room temperature Polar Kerr rotation, however, …0.3.>

Bi- and Al-doped DyIG(y Å)/Fe(x Å) (y = 50 to 130 Å and x = 5 to 15 Å ) multilayer thin films were made by magnetron sputtering onto Si(111) substrates. Rapid thermal annealing was used to crystallize these garnet multilayers. The crystallized multilayer samples possess well-defined interfaces. Atomic force microscopy showed that the annealed samples had smooth surfaces, with small grain sizes (~30 to 80 nm). All of the samples had perpendicular magnetic anisotropy with very square hysteresis loops. The coercivity was found to vary from 600 Oe to 2 kOe, depending on Fe thickness and annealing …
Temperature-Dependent Interface Magnetism And Magnetization Reversal In Co/Pt Multilayers, Z. S. Shan, J. X. Shen, Roger D. Kirby, David J. Sellmyer, Y. J. Wang
Temperature-Dependent Interface Magnetism And Magnetization Reversal In Co/Pt Multilayers, Z. S. Shan, J. X. Shen, Roger D. Kirby, David J. Sellmyer, Y. J. Wang
Roger Kirby Publications
We report on the temperature dependence of the magnetic properties and interface magnetism of Co/Pt multilayers. The magnetic properties including magnetization and anisotropy change substantially as the temperature varies from 300 to 10 K for samples with Co layer thickness in the range from 3 to 7 Å. The interface anisotropy of about 0.38 erg/cm2 is nearly independent of temperature. The magnetization reversal is dominated by domain wall motion for the thinner Co layers and dominated by nucleation for the thicker Co layers.
