Area Analysis Intelligence Plan, Chief Of Engineers, Department Of The Army, Robert Bolin , Depositor
United States Department of Defense Military Intelligence
Reorganization of the Army and creation of the Defense Intelligence Agency by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara lead to the creation of the Area Intelligence Analysis Agency.
For 20 years before 1962, the concept of technical intelligence had evolved in the US Army. Originally the Army Technical Services were charged with producing intelligence about German and Japanese weapons and about organizations analogous to the Army Technical Services in the German and Japanese armed forces.
The Army Technical Services were bureaus within the Headquarters, Department of the Army, which supplied weapons, equipment, and services to the Army, managed the careers of …
Public Health Service Drinking Water Standards
Public Health Service Drinking Water Standards
United States Public Health Resources
The Standards published herein have been promulgated as Public Health Regulations in the Federal Register. As such they became effective April 5, 1962, as the Standards to which drinking water and water supply systems used by carriers and others subject to Federal quarantine regulations must conform. The Division of Environmental Engineering and Food Protection is responsible for the application of these Standards to all carrier water supplies. These Standards supersede the Public Health Service Drinking Water Standards- 1946, as amended in 1956. The new Standards were developed with the assistance of an Advisory Committee appointed by the Public Health Service …
Purification And Sanitary Control Of Water (Potable And Waste), Paul W. Kabler
Purification And Sanitary Control Of Water (Potable And Waste), Paul W. Kabler
United States Public Health Resources
Although most of the streams draining inhabited regions are contaminated with human or animal feces, water-borne disease today in the United States is relatively uncommon. Pathogenic enteric microorganisms probably do not multiply in raw water sources under normal conditions. They usually disappear in a relatively short time, with the rates depending on variations in environmental conditions. Urban water supplies have played a diminishing role in the transmission of intestinal disease because of improvements in the detection and enumeration of pollution indicators, water and sewage treatment processes, and t h e sanitary control of water systems.

Property Management And Estate Planning For Nebraska Minors, Henry M. Grether Jr., John M. Gradwohl
Property Management And Estate Planning For Nebraska Minors, Henry M. Grether Jr., John M. Gradwohl
Nebraska Law Review
Present tax laws provide an added stimulus for the traditional benevolence which has brought minors into an economic ownership of wealth. It has become increasingly important for estate planners to consider all family members, adults and minors, present and future, and their estates, to achieve a maximum enjoyment of property for the entire family. The purpose of this article is to evaluate the available planning methods under Nebraska law for dealing with the vexatious problems which arise from ownership of wealth by minors. This includes a consideration of the nature and extent of a minor's disability to deal with his …

A Middle Miocene Rhinoceros Quarry In Morrill County, Nebraska (With Notes On Hip Disease In Diceratherium), Robert M. Stecher, C. Bertrand Schultz, Lloyd G. Tanner
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum (1924–2023)
Extensive deposits of fossil rhinoceros bones have been excavated from University of Nebraska State Museum collecting localities Mo-113, -114, -115, -116, and -118 some 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 miles north of Bridgeport, Morrill County, Nebraska. The fossils were associated with other faunal elements in the lower portion of the Marsland formation (middle Miocene) of the Hemingford group. The rhinoceros is considered to be Diceratherium niobrarensis Peterson, geologic variety. A pathologic right femur of D. niobrarensis provides evidence of hip disease in the medial Miocene rhinoceroses.

Early Records Of Some Mammals From Nebraska, J. Knox Jones Jr.
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum (1924–2023)
Ten species of Recent mammals that formerly occurred in Nebraska have been extirpated there by European man. Surprisingly few specimens of the species concerned are preserved in museum collections. Perusal of a representative segment of the historical literature pertaining to Nebraska has revealed records of occurrence of most of the extirpated species that provide a basis for estimating the former distribution of each in the State.

MORITA, RICHARD Y. (University of Nebraska, Lincoln) AND ROGER D. HAIGHT. Malic dehydrogenase activitv at 101 C under hydrostatic pressure. J. Bacteriol. 83:1341-1346. 1962.-No malic dehydrogenase activity was found to occur at 101 C at various hydrostatic pressures from 1 to 700 atm. However, activity was demonstrated with hydrostatic pressures above 700 atm, with optimal activity at 1,300 atm at the same temperature. Explanation of the data is based upon thermal denaturation of the enzyme, which involves a molecular volume increase of the enzyme. The molecular volume increase is counteracted by hydrostatic pressure. Pressures above 700 atm to 1,500 atm …

Feeding pastured calves protein supplements weekly instead of daily during the winter made little difference in either winter or summer gains, according to research results to date.
Two sources of protein were used in the trial. (I) Second cutting alfalfa hay was fed at the rate of four pounds per head daily. One group of calves was fed four pounds per head daily and one group was fed 28 pounds per head once each week. (2) Forty percent protein, pellets or cake, was fed at the rate of one pound per head daily. One group was fed one pound per …

Distributional Notes On Parasitic Mites, William F. Rapp Jr.
Distributional Notes On Parasitic Mites, William F. Rapp Jr.
Harold W. Manter Laboratory of Parasitology: Faculty Publications
Although much has been written on the systematics of mites little, to date, has been published regarding their distribution. Strandtman and Wharton (1958) have given distributional data on a large area basis i.e. United States, Mexico, etc., but have given only little specific distribution. Unfortunately much of our knowledge relative to mite distribution is limited to a knowledge of type localities. In the case of parasitic mites one cannot assume that the distribution of the parasite is the same as the host. Unfortunately at this time, we do not know what factors limit the distribution of parasitic mites.

Conclusions
Farm animals in southeast Kazakhstan are widely infected with sarcosporidia: 96.9% of the sheep, 88% of the cattle, 70% of the camels, and 40% of the swine.
The muscles most often and most heavily infected are: in sheep, the heart, diaphragm, and median buttock muscle; in cattle, the heart and esophagus; in camels, the esophagus, diaphragm, and median buttock muscle; in swine, the heart, diaphragm, and median buttock.
The most objective data on infection of animals can be obtained by studying a minimum of 3 or 4 muscles of different muscular systems simultaneously.
Heavy infection of muscles by sarcosporidia, …

Jane Doe is injured in an automobile accident and negligently treated by a physician who is the first person to reach the scene. As a result of the physician's negligence, Jane's injuries fail to heal properly, and she files a malpractice suit against the doctor. Prior to the 1961 Session of the Nebraska Legislature, the outcome of Jane's suit would have depended upon the common-law rules applicable to such cases. This the legislature has attempted to change by enactment of a statute. But can the state legislature, in one short paragraph, so simply and decisively sweep away a common-law right?

Municipal Fair Employment Practices In Nebraska, Denis G. Stack
Nebraska Law Review
The city of Omaha recently enacted an ordinance regulating fair employment practices (FEP). By the ordinance, employers, employment agencies, and labor organizations are prohibited from discriminating against employees, job applicants, or members on the basis of race, color, creed or national origin. The ordinance was the center of much controversy: the assistant city attorney stated the city lacked the power to enact the ordinance, and the city's leading newspaper opposed the law.

There are many Nebraskans who have reached the status of senior citizens. These Nebraskans in their 60's, 70's and 80's have attained a special place in our society. We can learn much from studying how they have eaten through the years and comparing their diets with what we have learned from similar studies in other states.

Concentration Of Selected Constituents In The Blood Of Healthy Women 30 To 90 Years Of Age In Six North Central States, Ruth M. Leverton, Jean Pazur
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
The hemoglobin, red cell, total and differential leukocyte, serum protein, calcium, phosphorus and glucose values of the blood of several hundred healthy women 30 to 92 years in six North Central States were determined as one phase of a regional study of nutritional status. The mean, standard deviation and the 95 percent range (mean plus or minus two standard deviations), are shown for each constituent measured. The values for these healthy women tend to be slightly lower than values given as standards in textbooks. Differences between age groups were not significant.
