Master Of Social Work Portfolio, Eryn Eva Robinson Aug 2025

Master Of Social Work Portfolio, Eryn Eva Robinson

Graduate Student Portfolios, Professional Papers, and Capstone Projects

This portfolio narrative chronicles my professional and personal development throughout my Master of Social Work (MSW) program, reflecting a journey grounded in Indigenous values, trauma-informed practice, and a commitment to social justice. Rooted in my identity as a Native American woman and informed by my grandmother’s survival of the Indian boarding school system, my practice philosophy emphasizes healing-centered engagement, cultural humility, and systemic advocacy. Through diverse practicum experiences, ranging from managing after-school youth programs to clinical work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) supporting children on the autism spectrum, I integrated theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice. I applied frameworks such …

Friends Of The Inyo V. United States Forest Service, Sarah J. Leopard Jun 2025

Friends Of The Inyo V. United States Forest Service, Sarah J. Leopard

Public Land & Resources Law Review

Friends of the Inyo v. United States Forest Service provides necessary guidance for categorical exclusion analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals held that the United States Forest Service wrongfully construed NEPA as permissive of applying different categorical exclusions to various components of the same mining project until the project was excluded in its entirety from further environmental review. The Court’s holding establishes two essential rules for evaluating mining proposals on public lands: (1) a categorical exclusion, when applied under § 220.6, must cover the entire scope of a proposed project; and (2) the …

The Figurate Numbers: From Verbal Expression To Algebraic Symbolism, Jerry Lodder Jun 2025

The Figurate Numbers: From Verbal Expression To Algebraic Symbolism, Jerry Lodder

The Mathematics Enthusiast

We study the historical development of the figurate numbers, from ancient Greece through Pierre de Fermat to the work of Blaise Pascal, examining key passages for the construction and computation of the figurate numbers as well as their use in enumerating combinations. To assist in a transition to algebraic equivalents of these verbal passages, we introduce tools from transformational grammar to rewrite the surface structure of certain sentences in terms of more streamlined sentences amenable to algebraic formation. These linguistic techniques allow for the identification of key nouns that become single algebraic symbols, while other linguistic rules show how these …

Year Of The Snake: A Children's Lunar New Year In Missoula, Luke J. Jensen Apr 2025

Year Of The Snake: A Children's Lunar New Year In Missoula, Luke J. Jensen

University of Montana Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR)

The focus of this project is to analyze and examine the process of child culture acquisition and engagement. Both are being examined through participant observation during a children’s Lunar New Year event at Missoula public library. The author examines the participation, ease of access and focus on children's activities observed at the event and compares them to child language acquisition, as a means of examining culture shock. With more time the author would like to interview organizers of the event, and examine immersion language learning practices in Missoula, especially with young people, but both fell outside of the scope of …

Mapping Behavior To Lesion Location In Neurolinguistics: History And The Illusive Methodology, Shea Highfill Apr 2025

Mapping Behavior To Lesion Location In Neurolinguistics: History And The Illusive Methodology, Shea Highfill

University of Montana Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR)

At first glance it seems as though the history of aphasia, a neurological deficit in language, is teaming with thorough, well characterized research using lesions to determine the language centers of the brain. A brain lesion is classified as tissue in the brain that is damaged due to disease or injury. The location of these lesions is a fundamental part of understanding how the structures of the brain affect the way humans think and behave; lesion mapping is the process used by researchers to identify this relationship. Exploring the history of this process reveals an epidemic of poorly described methodologies. …

Blackfeet: Campus Voices, Future Echoes, John C. Billedeaux Mr.

University of Montana Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR)

As a Blackfeet senior student in the University of Montana/Missoula, I am research assistant to Mizuki Miyashita who is a linguistic professor who prioritizes the importance of the Blackfeet language revitalization at the university. Our work is surrounded on vowel changes and dialects because most of the language we use in our work is Blackfoot, which is the sister tribe in Canada, to show our work to people like myself that want to learn if not more about the Blackfeet language. My main interest in the abstract is to focus on what other native or non-native students would like to …
