Gardening Programs In Schools: A Proposed Solution To Reverse The Consequences Of The Current American Food Culture, Charlotte Grace Blessey

This thesis examines the problems with current food consumption and production practices, and proposes the implementation of school gardening programs as a possible remedy to these problems. Methods and procedures consisted of research on current publications, periodicals, internet sources and scholarly articles concerning these topics. It was found that current diet is a significant factor in widespread health problems facing populations today. This diet is intertwined with an environmentally destructive and vulnerable system of intensive industrial agriculture based on centralization, mass distribution, and standardization. School garden programs target children beginning at a young age and help to counter the culture …

Motivating Genocide: Indirect Colonial Rule As A Motivator Of Genocidal Ideology And Policy, Trevor Bruce Rockstad

In this study I have explored indirect colonial rule as a motivation of genocide. I use case studies of the 1994 Rwandan and 1975 Cambodian genocides to illustrate the way that indirect colonially rule divided societies, creating colonially relegated and colonially elevated sections of society. Genocide becomes a more likely possibility if the colonially relegated group gains power after decolonization. If this group does gain power, it will pursue a policy of retribution for oppression suffered during the colonially period, repression of the colonially elevated group, and minimization of the return to the colonially order in which they were the …

The United States intelligence community is an integral part of the security of our' nation. It has been continually growing and redesigning itself for the past 230 years to suit the needs of the people and of the nation. Inhibiting the American intelligence system, however, is the struggle for the U.S. to find a balance between the rights of the people and the security of the nation. What's Behind Genocide?: The Social Construction Of Ethnicity And Mass Killing, Brianna Marie Phillips

This thesis offers insight into the causes of genocide through a comparative analysis of four incidents, two that are seen as ideologically-based and two that are seen as the result of ethnic conflict: the mass killing that occurred during Joseph Stalin’s reign in the Soviet Union, specifically the period from the early 1930s to the late 1940s, the genocide that occurred in Cambodia from 1975 to 1979, that which took place against Bosnian Muslims from 1992 to 1995, and the Rwandan genocide of 1994. The purpose of this Senior Honors Thesis is to examine the role of Winston Churchill in regards to social reform in Twentieth Century Britain. Although many books have been written on Churchill’s life, few specifically speak to his role in domestic politics. Accounting For A Disappearance: A Contribution To The History Of The Value Added Statement In The Uk, Chris Pong, Falconer Mitchell

Burchell et al's [1985] historical analysis of value added in the UK attributes its rise and fall to societal circumstances which initially encouraged the voluntary disclosure of the Value Added Statement (VAS) by companies and then, following societal change, influenced its disappearance. This paper supplements Burchell et al's thesis by arguing that a fuller explanation for the disappearance of the VAS can be found by also considering the contents of the statement itself. An empirical study of the information in the VASs of UK companies shows that they were unlikely to give support to the economic interests of the employee …

This thesis uses a variety of sources to look at the medical profession during the Civil War era. Both primary sources and secondary sources provide information on the perspectives of the key players during the period as well as an understanding of the knowledge present at that time and the methods and practices employed. Religion And Support Of Democracy: Protestantism, Catholicism, And The Support For Democracy In Mexico, Sara Jolly

The findings are consistent with other recent studies in Latin America. Eric Patterson found a similar pattern in Argentina and Chile in his study in 2003 (Patterson 2003). The data shows that despite Mexico’s history ofstrained Church/ State relations and a 70-year authoritarian rule, the Protestants in Mexico tend to hold similar beliefs on the support for democracy as the Protestants of other Latin American countries.
