3-Connected Graph Of Path-Width At Most Three, Stan Dziobiak
Combinatorics Seminar
It is known that the list of excluded minors for the minor-closed class of graphs of path-width 3 numbers in the millions. However, if we restrict our class to 3-connected graphs of path-width 3, then we can characterize it by ve excluded minors.
Exposed And Strongly Exposed Points In Symmetric Spaces Of Measurable Operators, M. M. Czerwinska
Exposed And Strongly Exposed Points In Symmetric Spaces Of Measurable Operators, M. M. Czerwinska
Analysis Seminar
Let be a semifinite von Neumann algebra with a faithful, normal, semifinite trace , and let be a symmetric Banach function space on [0, (1)). The symmetric space (, ) of -measurable operators consists of all -measurable operators for which the singular value function () belongs to and is equipped with the norm ‖‖ₑ(,) = ‖()‖ₑ. Special cases of noncommutative symmetric spaces include Lₚ(, ) (noncommutative Lₚ-spaces), unitary matrix spaces ₑ, and Schatten spaces ₚ, in particular trace-class ₁ and the Hilbert-Schmidt operators ₂. Let (, ‖⋅‖) be a Banach space, with the unit sphere and …
Rural Masculinity And Antique Tractors: Reliving The Men In The Machines, Michael R. Nusbaumer
Rural Masculinity And Antique Tractors: Reliving The Men In The Machines, Michael R. Nusbaumer
Journal of Rural Social Sciences
As the economic contexts of farming change, occupational supports for the maintenance of traditional rural masculinities diminish. When these past identities remain salient, identity discontinuity can occur and alternative mechanisms of support may be sought. Nostalgic remembrances may serve to reduce such discontinuity. The current inquiry explores antique tractor collecting as a means of restoring traditional rural masculinities. Data were collected through observations at antique tractor shows, interviews with collectors, and examination of the contents of collecting-related periodicals and other publications. Data reveal three unique ways in which tractor collecting allows for more full re-enactment of past masculinities. Symbolically anthropomorphizing …

Google Scholar Users And User Behaviors: An Exploratory Study, Gail Herrera
Library Publications
The University of Mississippi Library created a profile to provide linking from Google Scholar to library resources in 2005. Although Google Scholar does not provide usage statistics for institutions, use of Google Scholar is clearly evident in looking at library link resolver logs. The purpose of this project is to examine users of Google Scholar using existing data from interlibrary loan transactions and library website click-through logs and analytics. Questions about user status and discipline as well as behaviors related to use of other library resources, are explored.

Expanding Farm To School In Mississippi: Analysis And Recommendations, Harvard Law School Health Law And Policy Clinic, Harvard Law School Mississippi Delta Project
Delta Directions: Publications
“Farm to school” refers to any program that connects K-12 schools with local farmers. “Farm to cafeteria” and “farm to institution” are terms sometimes used for programs that include farm to school components, but might also focus on bringing local produce to other local institutions. Most farm to school efforts concentrate on what is called “farm direct” purchasing, where schools buy products directly from local farmers to serve in the school cafeteria. The business partnerships that develop through farm direct programs often lead to educational activities, with farmers and schools working together to teach students about nutrition, agriculture, the environment, …

Linked Graph With Modular Constraints, Zhiquan Hu
Combinatorics Seminar
A graph G is k-linked if G has at least 2k vertices, and for every sequence x1 x2 yk of distinct vertices, G contains k vertex-disjoint paths P1P2 Pk such that Pi joins xi and yi for i = 12 k. Moreover, the above de ned k-linked graph G is k-linked modulo (m1m2 in addition, for any k-tuple (d1 d2 mk) if, dk) of natural numbers, the paths P1P2 12 Pk can be chosen such that Pi has length di modulo mi for i = k. Thomassen showed that there exists a function f(m1m2 such that every f(m1m2 (m1m2 mk)-connected …

On A Class Of Matroid Designs, James Reid
On A Class Of Matroid Designs, James Reid
Combinatorics Seminar
Murty introduced the study of matroids with all hyperplanes having the same size in 1969. Young in 1973 called such a matroid a Matroid Design . Further work on determining properties of these matroids was done by Edmonds, Murty, and Young. These authors connected the problem of determining the matroid designs with the existence of certain balanced incomplete block designs. The dual of a matroid design is one in which all circuits have the same size. Murty characterized the connected binary matroid designs in 1971. Lemos, Reid, and Wu in 2011 provided information on the class of connected binary matroids …
