Quantum Variance For Dihedral Maass Forms, Steve Lester
Quantum Variance For Dihedral Maass Forms, Steve Lester
Algebra/Number Theory Seminar
Motivated by connections with mathematical physics, a major topic within the analytic theory of automorphic forms is their mass distribution. One problem in this direction is to compute the quantum variance, which describes how far away the L² mass of a typical form is from being equidistributed. In this talk, I will describe some recent joint work with Bingrong Huang (Shandong), in which we compute the quantum variance over the family of dihedral Maass forms, which is a distinguished, sparse subset of Maass forms. In particular, the leading order constant in our formula for the quantum variance includes a geometric …

© 2020 by the authors. In the present investigation, the ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) conditions and optimization of Rhododendron arboreum polysaccharide (RAP) yield were studied by a Box–Behnken response surface design and the evaluation of its antioxidant potential. Three parameters that affect the productivity of UAE, such as extraction temperature (50–90 ◦C), extraction time (10–30 min), and solid–liquid ratio (1–2 g/mL), were examined to optimize the yield of the polysaccharide percentage. The chromatographic analysis revealed that the composition of monosaccharides was found to be glucose, galactose, mannose, arabinose, and fucose. The data were fitted to polynomial response models, applying multiple regression …

Maya Bone Tool Technologies At Ucanal, Guatemala, Jacob Harris
Maya Bone Tool Technologies At Ucanal, Guatemala, Jacob Harris
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
A key part of understanding Maya bone tool production is studying the rare assemblages containing bone tools and bone tool debitage. The Late Classic J-2 assemblage is a distinct composition of lithic, charcoal, human and animal bone at the site of Ucanal, Guatemala. The number of sites with high concentrations of fauna remains are well, and sites with high concentrations of worked bone is even rarer. This thesis is an analysis of the worked and unworked faunal elements excavated in 2019 from Operation 1B of the J-2 assemblage. The primary purpose of this thesis is to further understand Maya bone …

It is increasingly appreciated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) associated with alternative splicing (AS) could be involved in aggressive hepatocellular carcinoma. Although many recent studies show the alteration of RNA alternative splicing by deregulated lncRNAs in cancer, the extent to which and how lncRNAs impact alternative splicing at the genome scale remains largely elusive. We analyzed RNA-seq data obtained from 369 hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) and 160 normal liver tissues, quantified 198,619 isoform transcripts, and identified a total of 1,375 significant AS events in liver cancer. In order …

© 2020 The Authors. Published by Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA. Intermolecular interactions in bulk water are dominated by pairwise and non-pairwise cooperative interactions. While accurate descriptions of the pairwise interactions are available and can be tested by precise low-frequency spectra of the water dimer up to 550 cm−1, the same does not hold for the three-body interactions. Here, we report the first comprehensive spectrum of the water trimer in the frequency region from 70 to 620 cm−1 using helium-nanodroplet isolation and free-electron lasers. By comparison to accompanying high-level quantum calculations, the experimentally observed intermolecular bands can be assigned. …

© 2020, The Author(s). At present, the measurements of RD and RJ/ψ hint at new physics (NP) in b→ cτ−v¯ decays. The angular distribution of B¯ → D (→ Dπ) τ−v¯ τ would be useful for getting information about the NP, but it cannot be measured. The reason is that the three-momentum p→ τ cannot be determined precisely since the decay products of the τ− include an undetected ντ. In this paper, we construct a measurable angular distribution by considering the additional decay τ−→ π−ντ. The full process is B¯→D(→Dπ′)τ−(→π−vτ)v¯τ, which includes three final-state particles whose three-momenta can be measured: …

© 2020 authors. We present the results of the first Dalitz plot analysis of the decay D0→K-π+η. The analysis is performed on a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 953 fb-1 collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+e- KEKB collider. The Dalitz plot is well described by a combination of the six resonant decay channels K̄∗(892)0η, K-a0(980)+, K-a2(1320)+, K̄∗(1410)0η, K∗(1680)-π+ and K2∗(1980)-π+, together with Kπ and Kη S-wave components. The decays K∗(1680)-→K-η and K2∗(1980)-→K-η are observed for the first time. We measure ratio of the branching fractions, B(D0→K-π+η)B(D0→K-π+)=0.500±0.002(stat)±0.020(syst)±0.003(BPDG). Using the Dalitz fit result, the ratio B(K∗(1680)→Kη)B(K∗(1680)→Kπ) …

© 2020 authors. We report searches for B0→invisible and B0→invisible+γ decays, where the energy of the photon is required to be larger than 0.5 GeV. These results are obtained from a 711 fb-1 data sample that contains 772×106BB¯ pairs and was collected near the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We observe no significant signal for either decay and set upper limits on their branching fractions at 90% confidence level of B(B0→invisible)<7.8×10-5 and B(B0→invisible+γ)<1.6×10-5.

Reliable Extraction Of Energy Landscape Properties From Critical Force Distributions, Sudeep Adhikari, K. S. D. Beach

The structural dynamics of a biopolymer is governed by a process of diffusion through its conformational energy landscape. In pulling experiments using optical tweezers, features of the energy landscape can be extracted from the probability distribution of the critical force at which the polymer unfolds. The analysis is often based on rate equations having Bell-Evans form, although it is understood that this modeling is inadequate and leads to unreliable landscape parameters in many common situations. Dudko et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 96, 108101 (2006)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.96.108101] have emphasized this critique and proposed an alternative form that includes an additional shape parameter (and …
