Millennial Specific Techniques For Nonprofit Marketing Communications: A Messaging Study For World Relief, Taylor M. Davenport Jan 2015

Millennial Specific Techniques For Nonprofit Marketing Communications: A Messaging Study For World Relief, Taylor M. Davenport

Honors Theses

Nonprofit organizations are quickly catching up to for profit companies in their marketing communications endeavors. World Relief, a faith-based nonprofit organization that strives to empower the vulnerable, is one of those organizations. While they have made huge strides in recent years, they are missing the mark when it comes to reaching millennials. This thesis sought to research effective millennial specific messaging techniques and implement an integrated marketing communications (IMC) campaign using the findings. This thesis compiles research on millennials from the Pew Research Center and other sources as a background for primary research. A survey and focus group were conducted …

Legal Education Reform: An Analysis Of The Current State Of The American Legal Education System Post Maccrate, Matthew Todd Kiefer

Honors Theses

The legal education continuum in the United States is under scrutiny from external and internal forces. This thesis examines a wide range of legal reports that focus on the current state of the most important part of the continuum, law schools. It specifically asks the question whether there is need for significant and possibly comprehensive change in law schools and if so what those changes would need to be. The thesis first explores the history and formation of legal education in America and its regulatory associations. Then it focuses on the MacCrate Report as comprehensive tool for understanding the legal …

Collaborations Of Hope: Network Theory And The Assessment Of Anti-Human Trafficking Nonprofits' Relationships, Gabrielle Barrientos Jan 2014

Collaborations Of Hope: Network Theory And The Assessment Of Anti-Human Trafficking Nonprofits' Relationships, Gabrielle Barrientos

Honors Theses

My research utilizes network theory to assess nonprofits' relationships in the anti- human trafficking sector. I explore nonprofit relationships with other anti-human trafficking nonprofits and governmental agencies through a survey I developed and administered to anti-human trafficking nonprofits and coalitions. I selected all survey recipients because of their focus on addressing human trafficking. Out of 50 organizations, 16 participated in the survey. I found that all of these organizations collaborated with other nonprofits and all but one with government. All organizations valued nonprofit collaboration and all but one valued government collaboration. The majority or organizations valued both collaborations equally, which …

Disaster, Displacement, And Voluntourism: Helping Narratives Of College Student Volunteers In Post-Katrina New Orleans, Mary Elizabeth Smithson Jan 2014

Disaster, Displacement, And Voluntourism: Helping Narratives Of College Student Volunteers In Post-Katrina New Orleans, Mary Elizabeth Smithson

Honors Theses

This thesis is an ethnographic study of volunteer tourists' motivations for contributing to the ongoing recovery of the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans, LA. While it has been nearly a decade since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, there is still much work to be done. The urgency that once accompanied the chaotic environment of a post-disaster landscape does not exist anymore. In effect, the strategies for recuperating from the hurricane's impacts mirror this shift from an urgent disaster state to a stabilized recovery state. Instead of issuing direct relief to people, recovery efforts are presently focused …

Attending Law School: Lucrative Or Lunatic?, Anna Lennep Jan 2013

Attending Law School: Lucrative Or Lunatic?, Anna Lennep

Honors Theses

The total number of law school graduates for the class of 2011 was 43,979 and of the 42,411 graduates whose employment status was known by March 15, 2012, less than 55% of graduates had found long-term, full-time jobs in a field that required bar passage. Less than 63% of graduates had found any job in a field that required bar passage. With so many graduates and so few jobs, prospective law students must consider the risk that at- tending law school has become for many of its graduates. This thesis uses recent graduate data to analyze the current woes of …

The History And Consequences Of The Sarbanes-Oxley Act Of 2002, Gerald Waltman Jan 2013

The History And Consequences Of The Sarbanes-Oxley Act Of 2002, Gerald Waltman

Honors Theses

The purpose of this research and thesis is to explore the intended and unintended consequences of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The Act arose from a series of financial scandals including those that happened at Enron and WorldCom. The Act is one of the most wide-sweeping pieces of financial legislation in the country’s history, and it has drastically changed the way that publicly traded companies and their auditors conduct their business. A significant challenge to the Act was heard by the United States Supreme Court, and the Court held a portion of the Act to be in violation of the …

The Potential For Screening For Interpersonal Violence In Community Pharmacies: An Exploratory Study, Marie Barnard Jan 2012

The Potential For Screening For Interpersonal Violence In Community Pharmacies: An Exploratory Study, Marie Barnard

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a public health problem of epidemic proportion; the only known effective health care intervention is routine screening for IPV exposure. Despite professional guidelines for routine screening, this intervention has been poorly adopted. Expansion of screening efforts to the community pharmacy setting provides an opportunity to have a substantial impact on the health, well-being of pharmacy patients. This investigation is the first to examine IPV screening related to the pharmacy environment. An existing measure of physicians' readiness to manage IPV (PREMIS) was adapted for the community pharmacy environment and validated in a national random sample of …
