This study examines the training teachers’ acquisition level of reading Arabic text. In this study, the acquisitional level is obtained based on two categories; the level of thinking while reading Arabic text and the level of comprehension of the reading text. It also analyses the correlation between the level of these two categories. Data is collected from 135 training teachers in two programmes; PPISMP and PISMP (IPGM), majoring Arabic Language and Islamic Studies in IPG Kampus Pendidikan Islam, Bangi. Under Shariah law, conventional insurance is prohibited due to the elements of gharar, maysir and riba in its implementation. Instead, takaful was introduced to replace conventional insurance. In order to ensure that takaful operates within Shariah law, a takaful contract is developed based on the concept of tabarru`. Religious believers claim their religions are peaceful and genuine believers are peacekeepers and peacemakers. In substantiating justification to their claim, they very often refer to religious scriptures. Yet, on the contrary, their claim is confronted by an opposite claim: many wars were fought and are being fought in the name of religion; and a great deal of violence can be ascribed to the religious believers. This article discusses the development of Islamic law in Malaysia in the context of globalized world. Globalization has posed a challenge to Muslims to provide contemporary world problems with solution. The application of Islamic law is proposed by this paper as one of fundamental ways to overcome this problem. Nevertheless, in the case of Malaysia, the proposed application of Islamic law has resulted in controversy: some groups hail it and the other reject it. President of the United States, Obama, speaking in Cairo in June 2009, expressed deep sympathy to the Palestinians who have been oppressed for over a century. Zionist occupation of Palestine has changed the landscape of government in the Middle East. Some of the scholars believe that as long as the injustice committed by the Zionists, so long that there can be no peace in the region in particular and the world in general. This article is to review aspects of the modern history of the conflict and suggests some steps that can be brought to the goodness and global peace.
