A Trial Of Fire And Ice: Assessment Of Control Techniques For Pyrus Calleryana Invasion Of Grasslands In Southwestern Ohio, Usa, Margaret E. Maloney, Eric B. Borth, Grace Dietsch, Mary C. Lloyd, Ryan W. Mcewan

Pyrus calleryana (Callery pear) is an invasive plant that threatens ecosystems in the eastern United States. We investigated the efficacy of various control techniques on P. calleryana invasion in grasslands. Treatments were applied to (a) P. calleryana stems that had experienced mowing annually for several years and were sprouting (n = 100 stems; “trees-sprouting”) and (b) stems that had established ca. 10 years earlier, had never been cut, and were single-stemmed trees (n = 40 stems; “trees-intact”). In both experiments, existing stems were cut and randomly assigned one of the following treatments: cut only (control), burning, freezing, or herbicide, and …

The annual forum provides opportunities for the UD community, the global Marianist community and the International Marian Research Institute to reflect more deeply about Mary and the wide range of topics related to Mariology. This study uses secondary data analysis of the 2018 TALIS-PISA link data combined with content analysis of policy and media artifacts to describe the relationship between teacher professionalization and working climate, self-efficacy, instruction, and mathematics achievement. In preliminary SEM models we identify three types of classroom instruction, Instruction Focused, Management Focused, and Comprehensive, based on a latent profile analysis of frequency of teacher behaviors. We also find that professionalization and working climate significantly predict teacher self-efficacy and instruction, but that instruction does not predict achievement when including school covariates. School psychologists are increasingly called on to consult with teachers and parents regarding students with anxiety. Unfortunately, and despite increased incidence of child and adolescent anxiety, the mental health needs of school-age youth exceed available resources in a school. To promote effective and sustainable school-based intervention models for youth with anxiety, increased focus on indirect service delivery models are warranted. This study examined school psychology practitioners’ preparedness to respond to referrals for student anxiety through a consultation model of service delivery.
