Educational Leadership Faculty Publications
An on-campus activity of enduring interest in the United States that is present elsewhere in the English-speaking world, but that has yet to yield reported litigation or academic writing in Great Britain, concerns free speech issues associated with student newspapers in higher education. Student newspapers have long occupied a significant role in their dual functions of informing members of their campus communities and as preparation grounds for future journalists. Against this background, the remainder of this article is divided into three major sections. The first part examines the nature of student newspapers and related issues while the second examines key …

Building Interreligious Encounter/Dialogue Through Friendship In A Pluralistic World: The Nigerian Context, Simonmary A. Aihiokhai
Building Interreligious Encounter/Dialogue Through Friendship In A Pluralistic World: The Nigerian Context, Simonmary A. Aihiokhai
Journal of the Black Catholic Theological Symposium
In this essay, Dr. Aihiokhai explores the philosophical concept of friendship as a model for fostering interreligious dialog across the Christian, Muslim, and the Ihiebve Traditional religions in Nigeria, based on qualitative research conducted between 2011 and 2012, and also on first‐hand experiences. By using alterity as grounds for communication and by worshiping openly and collaboratively, we can begin to appreciate not only the ‘other’, but also ourselves.

Collecting To The Core — Psychology Handbooks, Donald J. Polzella, Anne Doherty
Collecting To The Core — Psychology Handbooks, Donald J. Polzella, Anne Doherty
Psychology Faculty Publications
The American Psychological Association (APA), which publishes several specialized handbooks, describes them as “one-stop shop[s] for both overviews and in-depth analyses of a variety of sub-fields within psychology.” In general, upper-level undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty scholars consult handbooks for different reasons. Upper-level undergraduate and graduate students sometimes read handbook chapters for a course or seminar. (In my experience, most lower-level undergraduates find the style and content of handbook chapters bewildering.) Undergraduate honors students and, especially, graduate students may consult handbook chapters when they begin to work on their theses or dissertations, because the chapters provide authoritative reviews of relevant …
