Lights, Camera, Action: Tips And Tricks For Librarian Videographers And Video Managers, Rachel L. Edford

Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

Presentation at the 2020 Charleston Conference

As librarians, we are often asked to fill roles outside of our areas of expertise, and that is particularly true now when we are trying to find innovative ways to engage with users. While my library has created instructional videos in the past, there is certainly an increased demand now for the library to create and also manage our library video collection. This poster will provide practical advice and tips for librarians who find themselves serving as videographers, producers, or video administrators. We will explore the different types of instructional videos options as well …

How quickly the year has gone by! As we prepare to celebrate the holidays in this new normal, please remember to make choices that will keep you and your loved ones safe and healthy. We are all in this together. The PFSA is also aware that during this time it can be especially difficult for those of us who may not have a family to go home to, so be kind to yourself and consider hosting a zoom celebration so that you can stay connected to your chosen family and friends. Human connection, especially for the LGBTQ+ community, is critical …

Florida Statewide Symposium: Best Practices in Undergraduate Research

The Showcase of Osprey Advancements in Research and Scholarship (SOARS) is the University of North Florida’s highly-anticipated research poster event, organized by the Office of Undergraduate Research and held each April during Research Week – that is, until the pandemic changed our plans last spring. The members of this panel will share why we decided not to cancel the event; how we transitioned from an in-person conference to a virtual conference; how we created the website, uploaded the content, and integrated a judging component; how we later archived the 2020 projects for posterity; how we reaped some unexpected benefits, not …

The Center for Undergraduate Research at the University of Florida has partnered with Marston Science Libraries and the Research Integrity Officer to design a course specific for undergraduate students conducting research. This course consists of 8 modules in addition to a retrospective post assessment, totaling 8 hours of student commitment. Once the course is completed, students have the opportunity to print a certificate of completion …

Featured Bookshelf: 2020 Ucf Celebrates Diversity, Megan M. Haught

Featured Bookshelf

Every October UCF celebrates Diversity Week and for 2020 it runs from October 19 – 23. The theme is Stronger Together: Unified! Connected! Family! This highlights how together we can make UCF and the surrounding community stronger and more connected with each other.

One of the fantastic things about UCF is the wide range of cultures and ethnicities of our students, staff, and faculty. We come from all over. We’re just as proud of where we are from as we are of where we are now and where we will be heading in future.

UCF Libraries is offering a full …

Welcome to Fall 2020: A different world at UCF. I want to commend you for making it through the summer and for charging through the fall, albeit changes around us. The PFSA is here and continues to be committed to LGBTQ+ needs by raising awareness and celebrating who we are. I also want to acknowledge this summer’s monumental SCOTUS ruling that the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits sex discrimination, applies to discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Moving forward the newsletters will be coming out every other month, and what better way to start than during …

Seeing Destinations Through Vlogs: Implications For Leveraging Customer Engagement Behavior To Increase Travel Intention, Yusi Cheng, Wei Wei, Lu Zhang

Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

Purpose: This study aims to understand customers' watching experience with travel vlogs and its impacts on one of the most prominent manifestations of customer engagement behaviors (CEBs) – word-of-mouth (WOM) – and their travel intention. Drawing upon the theory of resonance, this study incorporated both cognitive and emotional aspects of travel vlog watching experience. Design/methodology/approach: Online survey data were collected from 352 participants who have watched travel vlogs over the past 12 months. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was performed for hypotheses testing. Findings: The study results reveal positive impacts of source credibility, inspiration, escapism and self-congruence on …
