Design Of A Systolic Architecture To Implement Graphic Transforms, Aimee A. Murray Jan 1988

Design Of A Systolic Architecture To Implement Graphic Transforms, Aimee A. Murray

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The graphics generator hardware is an important component of flight-training simulators. The function of this hardware is to generate 3D perspective images at rates of 30 frames per second to produce realistic out-ofwindow scenes viewed by the crew under training. Within most graphics generator hardware are array processors which achieve high computation throughput necessary to generate real-time processing. The function of the array processors is to transform, clip, rotate and perspective project the data base into screen coordinates for use by the graphic generator. A FIMD (few instructions multiple data) systolic architecture is proposed to achieve high computational throughput that …

Comparison Of Graphical Design Methodologies, Pamela Stark Woodard Jan 1988

Comparison Of Graphical Design Methodologies, Pamela Stark Woodard

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

The recent development of the Ada language by the Department of Defense and its required use within the Department of Defense for the development of embedded software systems has resulted in a need for better methods to represent Ada software designs. Graphical design techniques have long been used as software design and documentation aids. The use of graphical techniques to illustrate an Ada design can provide a clear, concise means to describe a complex software system. The purpose of this paper is to investigate several software design methodologies which incorporate graphical design notations. The specific software methodologies examined in detail …

Idiosyncratic Item Selection Effects: Do They Produce The Incongruity Effect?/, Susan E. Haynes Jan 1988

Idiosyncratic Item Selection Effects: Do They Produce The Incongruity Effect?/, Susan E. Haynes

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

This study examined the recall of subject-generated and experimenter-provided target words as a function of whether or not the encoding cue was congruous or incongruous. Previous research has established that, for experimenter-provided items, congruous targets are recalled better than incongruous targets. However, in the case of self-generated targets, some researchers have reported a reversal of this effect ("the incongruity effect") while others have not. The subjects were 55 undergraduate psychology students from the University of Central Florida.

In the experimenter-provided condition, subjects received congruous and incongruous question stems with the target word written in directly below the question. In the …

Variation In Female Somatic Condition And Its Relationship To Reproduction In The Sailfin Molly, Poecilia Latipinna (Pisces: Poeciliidae), Richard Eugene Smith Jan 1988

Variation In Female Somatic Condition And Its Relationship To Reproduction In The Sailfin Molly, Poecilia Latipinna (Pisces: Poeciliidae), Richard Eugene Smith

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

Seasonal and gestational variation in the somatic and reproductive condition of females was determined for two east-central Florida populations of the livebearing fish Poecilia latipinna. Females were sampled monthly between January 1985 and January 1986 at Badge Station (BDGST) and Titusville Ditch (TDTCH) study sites. In addition, collections were made at approximately 8 day intervals in April and August. Somatic condition was determined by calculating index values for dry weight (somatic tissue minus water), lipid, and protein from overall regression equations relating these components to female body size. Significant seasonal variation in somatic condition existed within the two study sites. …

Personality Characteristics Of Individuals Seeking To Adopt A Companion Animal, Laura Anne Weber-Andersen

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

Recent research has shown a relationship between pet ownership and certain mental health variables. Ground Surface Spiders In 3 Central Florida Plant-Communities, David T. Corey, Walter K. Taylor

Faculty Bibliography 1980s

Ground surface spiders were pitfall-trapped every two months in pond pine, sand pine scrub, and flatwoods plant communities on the University of Central Florida campus near Orlando from May, 1983 to March, 1984. Eight-two species and 2,326 individuals were collected: 57 species and 1,094 individuals in pond pine, 42 species and 851 individuals in sand pine scrub, and 48 species and 381 individuals in flatwoods community. Spider diversity was greatest in pond pine, followed by sand pine scrub, and then flatwoods community. Age, Growth, And Movement Patterns Of The Atlantic Stingray, Dasyatis Sabina, In A Florida Coastal Lagoon System, Thomas Henry Schmid

Retrospective Theses and Dissertations

Age, growth rates, and patterns of movement were studied in the Atlantic stingray, Dasyatis sabina, in the Indian River lagoon system in east central Florida. Age was estimated using the growth rings on the vertebral centrum and tretacycline marking. Tetracycline injections produced clear readable rings in all pups, but failed to be incorporated into the centra of adults. Females possess more centrum rings than males, but annual periodicity could not be verified. Growth rates were determined from aquarium held pups and adults and from tagged and recaptured animals. Males appeared to reach maturity in about two years, females in slightly …
