Beyond The Balance Sheet: Investigating The Association Between Nha Turnover And Nursing Home Financial Performance, Rohit Pradhan, Akbar Ghiasi, Ganisher Davlyatov, Gregory N. Orewa, Robert Weech-Maldonado

APC Fund

Introduction: Nursing homes (NHs) serve as a safety net for vulnerable populations such as older adults and people with disabilities. Nursing Home Administrators (NHAs) play a crucial role in managing the daily operations of NHs, including overseeing direct care staff and establishing the facility’s strategic direction. Unfortunately, NHs have consistently faced high NHA turnover rates, which have been linked to poor organizational performance. This study aims to investigate the relationship between NHA turnover and financial performance in NHs.
Methods: Using an integrated perspective based on the upper echelons theory and the resource-based view of the firm, we investigated the association …

Parenting Through A Pandemic: A Mixed Methods Analysis Of Covid-19'S Impact On Stress, Coping, Resiliency, And Mental Health Among University Student-Parents, Jordin Ann Lane

All ETDs from UAB

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the mental health of university students and continues to have a profound impact to this day. The transition from in-person traditional courses to online courses and campus closures, coupled with feelings of isolation, fear of contracting COVID-19, and uncertainty of the future has further intensified the mental health of college students. The effects of federal and state regulations, such as stay-at-home orders, influenced the mental health and general well-being of many Americans, specifically those who take on a dual role as a student and a parent. Unfortunately, literature pertaining to the effects …

Objective To characterize ED visits based on the medical urgency of the presenting reasons for visit and to explore the concordance between discharge diagnoses and reasons for visit.

Design, Setting, and Participants In this retrospective, cross-sectional study, a nationwide sample of ED visits by adults (aged ≥18 years) in the US from the 2018 and 2019 calendar years’ ED data of the …
