Background/aim: This study aimed to determine the proliferation and apoptotic effects of extracts from Cornus mas L. and Berberis vulgaris fruits on human breast cancer cells (MCF-7). Materials and methods: The Cornus mas L. and Berberis vulgaris fruits, which constitute the herbal material of the study, were turned into 80% acetone extract after washing. The total phenolic content in Berberis vulgaris fruit extracts was determined calorimetrically using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent. Background/aim: To evaluate whether there is a relationship between serum myosin-binding protein C (MyBP-C) levels measured in the first trimester and the timing of delivery, and, if a relationship is detected, the potential of this relationship in distinguishing between preterm and term labor. The aim of this study was to elucidate the impacts of primary immunodeficiency disorders (PIDs) on microbiota of dental caries in children by 16S rRNA gene-based metagenomic analysis. Mitochondria are organelles that serve as the powerhouses for cellular bioenergetics in eukaryotic cells. It is responsible for mitochondrial adenosine triphosphate (ATP) generation, cell signaling and activity, calcium balance, cell survival, proliferation, apoptosis, and autophagy. Mitochondrial transplantation is a promising disease therapy that involves the recovery of mitochondrial dysfunction using isolated functioning mitochondria. The objective of the present article is to provide current knowledge on natural mitochondrial transfer processes, in vitro and in vivo applications of mitochondrial transplantation, clinical trials, and challenges associated with mitochondrial transplantation.

Background: Androgen deprivation therapy remains the first-line therapy option for prostate cancer, mostly resulting in the transition of the disease to a castration-resistant state. The lack of androgen signaling during therapy affects various cellular processes, which sometimes paradoxically contributes to cancer progression. As androgen receptor (AR) signaling is known to contribute to oxidative stress regulation, loss of AR may also affect DNA damage level and the response mechanism in oxidant and inflammatory conditions of the prostate tumor microenvironment. Background/aim: Ribosomal proteins have been shown to perform unique extraribosomal functions in cell apoptosis and other biological processes. Ribosomal protein L8 (RPL8) not only has important nonribosomal regulatory functions but also participates in the oncogenesis and development of tumors. This study aimed to determine whether serum metabolite and hormones of ewes with low body condition scores subjected to the melatonin plus progesterone-based protocol (MPE) would be similar to a single progesterone-based protocol (PE) and whether melatonin ear implant supplementation could increase pregnancy rate. Testicular dysfunction, a severe secondary complication of diabetes, negatively affects reproductive health. Ghrelin is a peptide that plays a role in many metabolic events, such as stimulating growth hormones and regulating appetite, blood pressure, and reproduction. Metformin has antiinflammatory and antioxidant properties and is widely used to treat type 2 diabetes. This study aimed to evaluate quantitative and morphometric analyses of preantral follicles and the ultrastructural characteristics of antral follicles in different oestrous cycle stages in Anatolian water buffaloes. Twenty-four ovaries collected from twelve slaughtered Anatolian water buffaloes were classified macroscopically as luteal or follicular stages. The ovaries were prepared for histological examination (Hematoxylin-eosin staining), and primordial, primary, and secondary follicle numbers were calculated, and the diameters of oocytes, follicles, and nuclei were measured under a light microscope with a micrometre. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of various mixtures of different litter materials containing wood shaving and barley straw on body weight gain, feed consumption, feed efficiency, carcass yield, antioxidant state, litter quality, and coccidio oocysts in broilers rearing. This study investigated a timeline of changes in the immunoreactivity of infiltrating macrophages during gastric ulcer healing. To this end, gastric tissue samples were obtained from an acetic acid-induced gastric ulcer model in rats on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 14th days of ulcer induction. Ulcerated gastric tissues were subjected to histologic and immunohistochemical evaluations for macrophage subtypes. The number of Iba-1+ macrophages in the gastric ulcer area significantly increased on day 3, reaching a maximum number on day 7, followed by a decrease on day 14. No Gal-3+ macrophages were seen in the gastric ulcer area until day 14. …

Arum rupicola Boiss var. rupicola is a preferred ingredient in traditional medicine in various countries, including Türkiye. The current study aims to establish the antiparasitic effect of A. rupicola Boiss var. rupicola on the eggs and larvae of T. canis in vitro. An ovicidal effect was not detected in the plant extracts, and embryogenesis in the T. canis eggs was not affected by the leaves' ethanolic extract and the distilled water extract of the rhizome during the incubation periods (6, 12, and 24 h).
