Contribution To The Taxonomy, Distribution And Karyology Of Martes Foina(Erxleben, 1777) (Mammalia: Carnivora) In Turkey, Nuri Yi̇ği̇t, Ercüment Çolak, Mustafa Sözen, Şakir Özkurt
Turkish Journal of Zoology
In this preliminary study, nine Stone Martens were recorded from different localities in Turkey. Their morphological characteristics were found to be consistent with previously published papers. However, the throat patches of Turkish Stone Martens show variations with respect to shape. In addition, it was determined that the morphologic and biometric characteristics of Turkish samples were consistent with those of M. f. syriaca. According to the karyological findings, the diploid number of chromosomes and the fundamental number were 38 and 76, respectively.

A New Probe Head Design For The Weak Field Double Resonance Spectrometer, A. Oral Salman, M. Maral Sünnetçi̇oğlu, Rıza Sungur, Gökçe Bi̇ngöl

In order to observe low field $\sigma$ EPR spectra of free radicals a new probe head was designed to work at 1.53 mT. As a double resonance spectrometer, at 1.53 mT the probe head includes both NMR and EPR rf coils. To induce the $\sigma$ transitions EPR rf coil must produce an rf field parallel to the main static field. Various coil designs were examined for this aim and the best results was obtained with a solenoid NMR coil and saddle shaped single turn EPR coil design combination.

Endogenous leukotrienes (LT) levels in plasma and urine samples, and LT levels released from stimulated leukocytes in vitro were examined in children with steroid sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS). Plasma LT concentrations were found to be higher in the SSNS group than in healthy subjects. Subjects with SSNS were also shown to have high levels of urinary cysteinyl-LTs and LTB 4 , while healthy children had only urinary LTE 4 levels. The interactive effects of vernalization, day length and light intensity on the number of leaves and flag leaf area on the main shoot of five bread wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars (Çukurova-86, Atay-85, Lancer, Haymana-79 and Bezostaya-1) each with different biological characters, were investigated. The ecological properties of Iris pseudacorus L., a marsh plant species, were investigated. The analysis of N%, P% and K% in the below-ground and above-ground parts of the plant was carried out. In addition, soil samples were collected and their physical and chemical aspects were analyzed.

Primer oocytes (n=520) collected from ovaries of slaughtered cows were divided into 3 groups, and matured at 39ºC with 95-100% humidity and under a gas mixture of 5% O 2 , 5% CO 2 and 90% N 2 for 22, 24 and 26 hours. Modified Parker's Medium (MPM) supplemented with FSH and 20% ECS was used as maturation medium. This research was carried out from November 1992 to November 1993 in the Altinkaya Dam Lake of Bafra of Samsun province. During the study, totally 236 Barbus plebejus escherichi Steindachner, 1987 were examined. The purpose of the present study was to determine some biological features such as age and size composition, length-weight relationship, growth rates. The age composition of specimens ranged from II to VI and age-group IV. was maximum with ratio of 52.54%. The percentages were calculated as 62.82% for females and 37.18% for males in the stock.
