Electrooxidation Of Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate (Las) On Pt Electrodes, Bi̇rgül Yazici, Si̇bel Zor
Electrooxidation Of Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate (Las) On Pt Electrodes, Bi̇rgül Yazici, Si̇bel Zor
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
The electrochemical behaviour of linear alklybenzene sulfonate (LAS) on Pt electrodes was investigated in 0.05M Na_2SO_4 and in 0.1M NaCl at pH=8 by the potentiokinetic method and by electrolysis. The anodic and cathodic semilogarithmic current-potential curves were obtained between -1.6V - +1.6V. The experimental discharge potentials were determined by means of current-potential-curves obtained by electrolysis between 0-3V. The percentages of surface active material remaining in the solution after specified periods (0-6hrs) were determined for different initial concentrations of LAS (30, 150, 300 ppm) by using a potentiostat at +1.6V and by applying a potential of 20V via a direct current …
Reaction Of Tribromonitromethane With Aldehydes And Ketones In The Presence Of Zn Metal In Aqueous Medium, Ali̇ Shaker Mahasneh
Reaction Of Tribromonitromethane With Aldehydes And Ketones In The Presence Of Zn Metal In Aqueous Medium, Ali̇ Shaker Mahasneh
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Aldehydes and ketones react with tribromonitromethane in the presence of zinc metal dust, ammonium chloride and water to give dibromonitroalcohols in good yields.

Turkish Journal of Biology
The cells at the tip of the roots of germinated seeds of Vicia galileae were caryologycally examined and the chromosome number was found to be 2n=14. The strach grains were observed in the epidermis, endothecium and middle layer cells in the early development phases of the anther walls. Normal mitotic divisions were observed in the glandular type tapetum. Also it was observed that meiotic divisions in most of the microspore mother cells were regular and irregularities were only 1- 2%. Polarization which occurred normally in pollen mitosis and the divison stages were clearly observed. It was noted that pollens were …

The Effect Of Zeaxanthin And Tank Color On Pigmentation Andgrowth Of Goldish ( Carassius Auratus), Mahmut Yanar, Nazmi̇ Tekeli̇oğlu
Turkish Journal of Biology
In this study, the effect of zeaxanthin and tank color on pigmentation and growth of godfish ( Carassius auratus ) was investigated. Total carotenoid deposition in the fish skin was determined spectrophotometrically. At the end of 60 days of experimental period, total carotenoid accumulation in the skin of fish feeding the same food containing 75 mg/kg zeaxanthin and grown in green, blue, red, white and yellow tanks were 34.41±0.56, 32.90±0.42, 28.60±0.74, 28.58±0.52, and 26.96±0.70 mg/kg, respectively. Pigmentation in green and blue tanks were higher than the other tanks (p

The Effect Of Fish Oil On Liver And Plasma Mda And Antioxidant Status Of Rats, Nuriye Mete, Birgül Işik, Levent Erdi̇nç, Fuat Gürkan
Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences
The question how fish oil (FO) and soybean oil (SO) change the state of antioxidant and the lipid peroxidation in liver and plasma of rats and the protective role of vitamin E were investigated. Six-week-old forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups. One of the groups fed a control diet, another one fed SO, while the other three groups fed FO diet at the level of 10% Vitamin E supplementation was maintained to three different levels 3, 50, 150 IU/per kg diet in the FO diets and 3 IU vitamin E per kg of the SO diet. At …

Elaeagnus Angustifolial. As A Biomonitor Of Heavy Metal Pollution, Ahmet Aksoy, Uğur Şahi̇n
Turkish Journal of Botany
The leaves of Elaeagnus angustifolia L. (Elaeagnaceae) were tested as a possible biomonitor of heavy metal pollution in Kayseri. Concentration of Pb, Cd and Zn were determined in unwashed and washed leaves and soils. Differences between the unwashed and washed samples varied according to the metal pollutant levels. Significant correlations were obtained between the heavy metal concentrations in surface soil and washed leaf samples. E. angustifoliawas found to be a useful biomonitor of the heavy metals investigated.
