A Comparative Analysis Of Membrane Intactness And Genome Integrity In Pea,Barley, And Wheat In Response To Uvc Irradiation, Mariyana Georgieva, Ivelina Nikolova, Georgi Bonchev, Zornitsa Katerova, Dessislava Todorova

Turkish Journal of Botany

The maintenance of plant genome integrity plays a critical function in the processes of DNA replication, transcription, and repair. Short-wave UV radiation (UVC) is among the most harmful agents known to affect genome stability and to induce DNA damage, including double-strand breaks (DSBs). Most previous studies in plants addressed the effects of UVC radiation at the physiological level; however, little research effort has been put into genome sensitivity across different plant species. Here, we made use of the trypan blue exclusion test and neutral comet assay to assess nuclear membrane and genome integrity in response to UVC radiation in monocot …

Arrestin-domain-containing proteins belong to the arrestin family, embers of which are important for regulating signal transduction within cells. In this study, two ARRDC genes (ARRDC1 and ARRDC5) of Diannan small-ear pigs were amplified by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and cloned for the first time (accession nos.: KF589202 and KF589203). The full-length coding sequence of ARRDC1 was 1284 nucleotides in length (molecular weight, 45.6 kDa; pI, 7.61) and encoded 427 amino acids. The ARRDC5CDS was 1014 nucleotides in length (molecular weight, 37.5 kDa; pI, 7.08) and encoded 337 amino acids. Sequence homology analysis revealed that the amino acid sequences of …

The aim of the study was to examine changes in Cu?Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), their gel electrophoresis profiles, glutathione reductase (GR) activity, amount of glutathione (GSH), and the activity of glutathione S-transferase (GST) - phase II biotransformation enzyme in the midgut tissue of gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar L. (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae)) larvae after ghrelin treatment. Four subpicomolar injections of ghrelin (0.3 pmol) or physiological saline (control) were applied every 24 h. The SOD, CAT, GR, GST activity, and amount of GSH were higher in the ghrelin-treated group than in the control. Electrophoresis gel bands of SOD and CAT had …
