In this study, antimicrobial nanofibers were produced with the mixtures of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and cyclotide-rich fractions by electrospinning method. After extraction, the first separation was carried out with C18 flash chromatography and then fractioned into five separate parts by reversed-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The molecular weights of cyclotides in each fraction were determined by quadrupole time-of-flight liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (Q-TOF LC-MS). Cyclotide-rich fractions were mixed with 10% of PVA solution and nanofibers were produced from this biocomposite mixture by electrospinning method. The genus Taxus (yews) is the largest genus of the family Taxaceae. It comprises about 24 species with 55 varieties distributed mainly in Asia, Europe, North Africa, and North America. In addition to the taxane diterpenoids and the cancer drug taxol, its species contain many essential oils with actual or potential biological activity. This review covers the chemical constituents as well as biological activities of these oils that have been studied in fourteen countries over 46 years (1975-2021). It also discusses the biotic and abiotic factors that limit the regeneration of these economically and medicinally important plants.

Zirconium-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate metal-organic framework (Zr-NDC MOF) was prepared using ultrasound-assisted synthesis and tested for the adsorptive removal of crystal violet (CV) dye from aqueous solution. The pristine Zr-NDC was characterized using powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared, elemental analysis, and dynamic light scattering techniques. The maximum percentage removal of CV dye was found to be 99.45% with an initial dye concentration of 10 mg L-1. The aim of this study was the determination of chromatographic profiles of major whey proteins (WP): α-lactalbumin (α-La), β-lactoglobulin A and B, (β-Lg A and B), bovine serum albumin (BSA) in dairy beverages based on Zonar milk serum. The studied WP were separated by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) on Aeris XB-C18 column using gradient elution with 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in water and 0.1% TFA in 80% acetonitrile, at 214 nm detection. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are common and persistent environmental pollutants produced during the incomplete combustion of fuels. They are known for their carcinogenic and mutagenic properties. Thus, their removal from water bodies is highly crucial and has become a critical issue globally. As a solution, here an electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL) membrane with a mean fiber diameter of 2.74 ± 1.3 μm was produced by electrospinning. In this research, a combined photocatalytic and biological treatment is proposed for the elimination of pollutants present in textile wastewater using a natural erionite zeolite (PE) and aluminum oxide (PA) synthesized by the sol-gel method as photocatalysts, and solar radiation. Several 5-(alkylsulfonyl)-1-substituted-2-(1H-pyrrol-2-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole derivatives were synthesized and their antioxidant activities were investigated using lipid peroxidation (LPO) and 7-ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) assays. Docking analysis with Human NAD[P]H-Quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) was also performed to gather thorough information about these compounds that have antioxidant activities. Moreover, their molecular descriptors and ADME properties were calculated using the SwissADME online program. As a result, most of our compounds possessed better affinity and created ample interactions with NQO1. The most potent compound 5j had LP inhibition value of 3.73 nmol/mg/min. The effects of an aminoglycoside antibiotic, streptomycin, on survival rate, development time, and adult longevity of Drosophila melanogaster (Diptera: Drosophilidae) were examined by adding on the artificial diet at different concentrations in laboratory condition. The effect of streptomycin on malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonyl (PCO) contents, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) activities in all developmental stages of D. melanogaster was also investigated. First-instar larvae were reared into diets with 600 mg/L, 1200 mg/L, and 1800 mg/L of streptomycin concentrations and were fed until the adult emergence. Haliaeetus albicilla is a top raptor that can be used as a model for contaminants transfer in trophic chain. In this study we studied the accumulation of three contaminants on feathers from breeding individuals of white-tailed sea-eagle collected between 2012 and 2018 in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve and its surroundings. The concentrations of two heavy metals (chromium, cadmium) and one metalloid (arsenic) were determined by inductively coupled mass spectrometry. This study was designed to record some morphometric and haematological parameters of common snipe, Gallinago gallinago. For this purpose, 20 individuals (10 male, 10 female) were collected from the wetlands of District Bahawalnagar, Punjab, Pakistan. Significant differences between the sexes were recorded in tail length, length of longest primary feather, and chest circumference. . No significant difference was recorded in haematological parameters between the sexes. Gut analysis revealed that common snipe feed mostly on Chironomidae and Ceratopogonidae larvae and male and female snipes have the same food preference.

Studying four species of red wood ants (Formica rufa, F. polyctena, F. aquilonia, F. lugubris), we examined nest morphometrics (height and diameter of anthills), spatial parameters (location of anthills of different sizes relative to each other), and the number of trails per colony in three regions of Ukraine and Russia: Kyiv region (877 anthills), the Urals (274 anthills) and Cis-Baikal (72 anthills). In this study, we present the first in-water monitoring results of loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) in Köyceğiz-Dalyan specially protected area (SPA), Turkey. The capture-mark-recapture (CMR) study encompassed a total of 113 capture events of 88 individuals across two sampling years. The majority of the population was adults (88.6%) with a highly male-biased (70.5%) sex ratio. Our results indicate that some of the overwintering individuals also contribute to the nesting population in the region. Biometric characteristics of captured individuals were also presented. For this reason, the cranium of anurans has been widely used for analyzing e.g., development and integration, evolutionary history, phylogenetic relationships, sexual dimorphism; and for taxon determination. This study evaluates the Black Sea anchovy population infected by parasitic Ascaridoid Nematode larva in the Southern Black Sea. It assesses the larva?s effect on fish body condition, energy stored in the body, and anchovy growth. For this, anchovies sampled on July 10-31, 2018, from 30 different stations were examined, and 11.8% of the 825 anchovies were found infected. The observed infection rate was higher on the western side of the study area, suggesting that this rate may be used as a biomarker for the western stock. The common vole Microtus arvalis (Pallas, 1778) is the most widespread Microtus species. It has two forms - the European arvalis form (2n: 46, NF: 84) and the Asian obscurus form (2n: 46, NF: 72). The present study aimed to clarify the taxonomic status of M. arvalis populations distributed in Eastern Turkey, Europe and Asia by analysing two mitochondrial (CYTB and COX1) and one nuclear (IRBP) markers. Phylogenetic dendrograms (median-joining networks and Bayesian trees) constructed using the mitochondrial markers clearly separated the Anatolian population from the European and Asian populations. In a status assessment conducted by Kasparek et al. in 2004, it was shown that the species is at the brink of extinction. Through this study, comparisons on bat species richness and evenness in primary forest, secondary forest, and urban forest were made. Sampling was conducted between 18:30 PM and 06:30 AM using 10 mist-nets and four harp traps for three consecutive nights at the primary and secondary forest of Ulu Gombak Forest Reserve and urban forest in the Universiti Malaya Botanical Garden. The chilli thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood, 1919 (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) was reported for the first time in Adana Province, Turkey in October, 2020 on blueberries [Vaccinium myrtillus L. (Ericaceae)]. Its heavy infestation was detected on the vegetative parts of the blueberries. In this short communication, a brief summary of its diagnosis and damage as well as its economic importance in the region is provided.

Wireworms are polyphagous soil-dwelling pests that are hard to control. Attract-and-kill strategies, combining attractive semiochemicals with biocontrol agents, have great promise to control insect pests. We hypothesized that the combination of plant semiochemicals and entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) in an attract-and-kill system could greatly enhance the nematodes' efficiency against wireworms. We evaluated the potential of alginate beads loaded with plant extracts and EPNs to control Agriotes obscurus. We tested the efficiency to kill wireworms or to reduce their feeding activity when combining potato tuber extracts as attractants with any of seven different EPN populations.
