Facts About Fowl Cholera, T. A. Dorsey, G. S. Harshfiled
Facts About Fowl Cholera, T. A. Dorsey, G. S. Harshfiled
Agricultural Experiment Station Circulars (1920-1915)
Fowl cholera is a specific infectious disease which affects nearly all species of poultry. Quite frequently it occurs as an acute disease, but sub-acute and chronic infections are also common. It is one of the oldest of the poultry diseases, the infectious nature having been recognized for a century. Fowl cholera was first reported in the United States in 1880. From that time to the present the disease has accounted for an enormous loss of poultry. It is not of equal importance in all parts of the country. In some areas cholera occurs only sporadically; other areas show a decline …

Growth And Respiratory Studies Of Saccaromyces Cerevisiae In The Presence Of Selenium, Robert M. Pengra
Growth And Respiratory Studies Of Saccaromyces Cerevisiae In The Presence Of Selenium, Robert M. Pengra
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The occurrence of selenium in certain soils of the United States and its detrimental effect upon livestock pastured on or fed forage from these areas has been well established. Selenium poisoning will not be reviewed here as several excellent reviews have been published (1, 2, 3). Studies on the metabolism of selenium by Sac-charomyces cerevisiae have been reported by Potter and Elvehjem (4), Lardy and Moxon (5), and Fels and Cheldelin (6, 7, 8). An attempt has been made in this thesis to repeat and enlarge on some of these studies. While this investigation may contribute information on the selenium …

Such information will be of value in analyzing the changes that have been taking place and will aid in developing educational programs to help improve agricultural productivity. No attempt here will be made to analyze the results obtained except …
A Survey Of The Status Of Conservation Education In Junior High Schools Of Eight Selected Counties In Northwest Iowa, John E. Voss
A Survey Of The Status Of Conservation Education In Junior High Schools Of Eight Selected Counties In Northwest Iowa, John E. Voss
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In recent years the subject of conservation has acquired considerable importance throughout this country. The very nature of the problem has become so broad as to include nearly every facet of our daily lives. It has come to include human lives, consumer education, and production along with the more traditional areas of our natural resources such as forests, minerals, soil, and water. As with other contemporary topics, this subject has many implications for American education. It has becorr1e increasingly evident that if we are to maintain our present high standards of living, some effort in education has to be put …

Effect Of Level And Source Of Protein On Digestibility Of Different Qualities Of Prairie Hay By Cattle And Sheep, Ralph Louis Braun
Effect Of Level And Source Of Protein On Digestibility Of Different Qualities Of Prairie Hay By Cattle And Sheep, Ralph Louis Braun
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The economy of much of our Great Plains region depends upon the efficiency with which we use its most important crop--grass. Since over 75 percent of the feed of all beef cattle and sheep is grass, anything that can be done to increase its value as feed for livestock is of tremendous importance to the wealth and economy of the nation. In addition to the importance of grass to the Great Plains regions, it is playing an ever more important role in the economy of the southeastern states and even in the corn belt. With higher prices for livestock and …

The Effect On Carcass Yield And Grade Of Holding Lambs In Packers' Yards, Ottar Nervik, Ellis A. Pierce, J. Harvey Glover
The Effect On Carcass Yield And Grade Of Holding Lambs In Packers' Yards, Ottar Nervik, Ellis A. Pierce, J. Harvey Glover
Agricultural Experiment Station Technical Bulletins (1939-2011)
Most of our present-day livestock is sold on the basis of live weight and grade. An alternative method of selling is to base prices on the carcass weight and grade of the animals. This method has the advantage that prices are based more nearly on the wholesale value of the carcass. However, important factors that need to be studied with this method are tissue shrinkage and reductions in carcass grade (1) when livestock is shipped from the point of sale to the packing plant and (2) when livestock is held over in the packer’s yards for one or more days …
Farm And Ranch Economic Review For South Dakota, Agricultural Extension Service, South Dakota State College
Farm And Ranch Economic Review For South Dakota, Agricultural Extension Service, South Dakota State College
SDSU Extension Circulars
The stage is set for another year of high-level economic activity. In this type of an economy, agricultural prospects are generally good. But, some weakening is possible late in the year. A stable or gently-rising level of wholesale prices is expected during most of 1953. Prices received by farmers may tend downward and prices paid, steady to upward. Net farm income may be a little lower than in 1952.

Every person whose gross income during the year is $600 or more MUST file a return even though no tax is due. Gross income is total income (subject to tax) before any expenses are deducted.
