Investigation Of Preventive Conservation Of Library Materials In National Library Of India, Kashish Fatima, Nishat Fatima
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Preventive Conservation being interdisciplinary in nature has been implemented by libraries from the time when libraries were considered merely as storehouses of knowledge. Since inception, libraries have taken the responsibility to preserve the library materials for a prolonged life. The present study is undertaken to survey the preventive conservation activities in National Library of India. For this purpose, a well structured questionnaire was designed and distributed to the head of the library and concerned library professionals who are directly engaged in preventive conservation activities of the library. Results of the study show that all the basic methods of preventive conservation …

Self-Citation And Authorship Pattern In Desidoc Journal Of Library And Information Technology, Anil Kumar Siwach, Vinod Kumar Thakur
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Researchers support their research work by citing previous studies. Citations are considered important indicator of research performance and many research based indicators are based on these. Self-citation, i.e., citing own previous studies, is a common practice but excessive and unsolicited self-citations are unethical and not considered good. The present paper intends to study the self-citations of “DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology” in terms of author-self citation, journal self-citation and author-journal self-citation during the ten year period from 2010 to 2019. The study also covers authorship pattern, collaboration and prolific authors in the journal under study.

Network Visualization Of A Retracted Article: Repeated Proliferation Of Error Through Citation Networks, Rosy Jan, Kirat Nazir, Kushboo Rani, Irtiza Peer, Waseem Farooq
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Retraction is used as an optimum tool to uphold and safe-guide the integrity of scholarly literature. However, knowingly or unknowingly the authors build the work on these false claims by citing the retracted articles. Such dependencies on retracted articles may become implicit and indirect causing profound and long-lasting threat to the credibility of the literature. Consequently, it is important to detect and analyze such threats. The article aims to demonstrate dependency of citing articles on retracted article with reference to the rest of the literature. A case study of highly cited (as reported by retraction watch) retracted article ”Spontaneous …

A Scoping Review Of Classification Of Concrete Cracks Using Deep Convolution Learning Approach, Priyanka Tupe-Waghmare, Rahul Raghvendra Joshi
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
An important factor that causes defect in the concrete structure is the systematic damage and it is very difficult to detect the cracks by visual examination. Digital image processing has proven to be one of the best substitutes for the monitoring of the cracks. A traditional filter based on image processing algorithm is a classical approach for monitoring the cracks. Thereafter, the deep learning-based methods have been implemented to detect and classify the cracks on the concrete images and have shown significant results. The convolution neural network-based models have fairly observed and graded the cracks giving better performance in terms …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
An interdisciplinary approach to the study of nepotism is taken into consideration in this article. Nepotism is one of the least researched and most poorly defined human resource approaches, and it has an enormous effect on companies that hire staff. Different terms, such as Nepotism, Cronyism, and favoritism, have an adverse influence on the company's efficiency and lead to poor performance. From an interdisciplinary viewpoint, organizations often look at nepotism to better represent such policies and practices on companies. The research work identifies significant contributors, recent trends, contexts, and supports in the study field for any further direction. A sample …

Here we present a global and regionally resolved terrestrial net biosphere exchange (NBE) dataset with corresponding uncertainties between 2010-2018: Carbon Monitoring System Flux Net Biosphere Exchange 2020 (CMS-Flux NBE 2020). It is estimated using the NASA Carbon Monitoring System Flux (CMS-Flux) top-down flux inversion system that assimilates column CO2 observations from the Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (GOSAT) and NASA's Observing Carbon Observatory 2 (OCO-2). The regional monthly fluxes are readily accessible as tabular files, and the gridded fluxes are available in NetCDF format. The fluxes and their uncertainties are evaluated by extensively comparing the posterior CO2 mole fractions with CO2 …

Effects Of Thermodynamics, Dynamics And Aerosols On Cirrus Clouds Based On In Situ Observations And Ncar Cam6, Ryan Patnaude, Minghui Diao, Xiaohong Liu, Suqian Chu
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
Cirrus cloud radiative effects are largely affected by ice microphysical properties, including ice water content (IWC), ice crystal number concentration (Ni) and mean diameter (Di). These characteristics vary significantly due to thermodynamic, dynamical and aerosol conditions. In this work, a global-scale observation dataset is used to examine regional variations of cirrus cloud microphysical properties, as well as several key controlling factors, i.e., temperature, relative humidity with respect to ice (RHi), vertical velocity (w) and aerosol number concentrations (Na). Results are compared with simulations from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Community Atmosphere Model version 6 (CAM6). Observed and simulated …

Women's Work-Life Balance In Hospitality: Examining Its Impact On Organizational Commitment, Ting Liu, Jie Gao, Mingfang Zhu, Shenglang Jin
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
Women account for a large proportion of the hotel industry. Work-life conflict has become one of the main obstacles to the organizational commitment of women. Thus, this study investigates the relationship for women between work-life balance, as an independent variable, and organizational commitment, as a dependent variable. Specifically, we examine women's work-life balance in the hospitality industry and compare women's organizational commitment under different levels of work-life balance. Then, we assess whether women's work-life balance and organizational commitment are associated with their sociodemographic characteristics (i.e., age, education, working years, and position level). Data were collected from 525 women employees in …
