Abstract

This study assessed the awareness and implementation of circulation policies and practices at the Lagos Business School library. The study used a survey research design and data was collected using a questionnaire. Purposive sampling was used to select 150 respondents for inclusion in the study. The study showed that the majority of respondents were aware of the circulation policy at the Lagos Business School library. As indicated by 86.0% of respondents, library orientations for users were the most common form of awareness, followed by library website pages. This paper presents a taxonomy of the information practices apparent in an imageboard discussion thread that was influential in jump-starting the worldwide QAnon movement. After introducing QAnon with a review of literature, the author examines 4Chan /pol/ thread #147547939 (key in introducing multiple key elements of the QAnon narrative) to enumerate and classify the information practices deployed by discussion participants. Effects Of Lexical Frequency On The Post-Exposure Magnitude Of Recalibration In Lexically Guided Perceptual Learning: An Explorative Analysis, Hahn Koo, Reiko Kataoka, Julia Thomas Swan, Christina Y. Tzeng

Listeners use lexical information to guide the mapping between acoustic signals and representations of speech sound. This process is known as perceptual learning and results in recalibration of phonetic categories. The current work examines the effect of lexical frequency of exposure words on the magnitude of recalibration. Results showed comparable levels of perceptual learning for listeners exposed to high-frequency vs low-frequency critical words, in line with empirical findings that suggest that if frequency affects recalibration, such effects may be difficult to detect. These findings warrant further empirical probing and theoretical characterization of the role of lexical frequency in perceptual learning.

Potable water scarcity is a global issue. Recent and ongoing droughts in the Western United States make residential water conservation crucial. Several water agencies have invested in conservation programs that educate residents on non-traditional water sources, such as laundry-to-landscape (L2L) greywater systems, which reuse washing machine water for outdoor irrigation. This study analyzed landscape vegetation and 21 greywater characteristics of 30 households with L2L systems in Santa Clara County, California. Greywater from most residential systems, even ones decades-old and unmaintained, had acceptable reuse values for major water quality parameters tested. For any experiment with two entangled photons, some joint measurement outcomes can have zero probability for a precise choice of basis. These perfect anti-correlations would seem to be a purely quantum phenomenon. It is, therefore, surprising that these very anti-correlations are also evident when the input to the same experiment is analyzed via classical electromagnetic theory. Demonstrating this quantum–classical connection for arbitrary two-photon states and analyzing why it is successful motivates alternative perspectives concerning entanglement, the path integral, and other topics in quantum foundations.

Does warmth from hydrothermal springs play a vital role in the biology and ecology of abyssal animals? Deep off central California, thousands of octopus (Muusoctopus robustus) migrate through cold dark waters to hydrothermal springs near an extinct volcano to mate, nest, and die, forming the largest known aggregation of octopus on Earth. Warmth from the springs plays a key role by raising metabolic rates, speeding embryonic development, and presumably increasing reproductive success; we show that brood times for females are ∼1.8 years, far faster than expected for abyssal octopods. Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) properties give vital information about pollution signatures in rivers, and they help develop best management practices (BMPs) for effective water resource management. This work employs multivariate statistical methods, receptor modeling, connectivity analysis, and univariate trend analysis to investigate pollution sources across spatiotemporal scales in the Manawatu River, New Zealand. A positive matrix factorization (PMF) method was applied to interpret possible contamination sources. A 25-year dataset (1989–2014) comprising 12 water quality variables from three sites was used. This paper proposes a data-light and trajectory-based machine learning approach for the online prediction of estimated time of arrival at terminal airspace boundary (ETA_TAB) and estimated landing time (ELDT), while a flight is airborne. It has been empirically demonstrated that BatchNorm increases performance, stability, and accuracy, although the reasons for such improvements are unclear. A survey was conducted with 25 students from each school, namely Sainik School Chhingchhip and St. Peter's Higher Secondary School Chhingchhip, to gather data on their reading habits. The survey collected information on the frequency and types of reading materials used by the students, the factors influencing their reading habits, and their attitudes toward reading. At nanometer scales, thermal fluctuations are comparable to interfacial energy densities. Consequently, at these scales, thermal fluctuations play a significant role in the dynamics of the instability.
