Age-Related Motives For Substance Use And Outcomes Among Veteran Patients Receiving Detoxification Services: A Longitudinal Study, Erin L. Woodhead, Christine Timko

Objectives: Study objectives were to examine (1) baseline differences in substance use motives (social, coping, enhancement, and physical discomfort) among older, middle-aged, and younger adults, and (2) whether age group moderated associations between substance use motives at baseline and substance use outcomes at six-month follow-up. Design: Participants were assessed at baseline and followed for six months (91.1%). Setting: U.S. military veterans receiving alcohol and/or opioid detoxification services. Participants: 298 participants in a study of telephone monitoring to improve detoxification outcomes. The aim of this study is to investigate the strategies by which parent institutions can enhance funding approaches to improve service delivery in academic libraries in Nigeria. Utilizing a descriptive survey research design, the study involved 88 library staff members from seven federal university libraries situated in the North Central region, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja-Nigeria. Goal: This study has examined perceived flexibility and benefits as determinants of cloud computing adoption by academic libraries in South-West, Nigeria

Methodology: This study used interviews for gathered data in a strictly qualitative manner. The system librarians in South-West Nigerian university libraries were the intended audience. Twenty (20) system librarians employed in the ICT department of nine (9) university libraries in South-West Nigeria made up the sample. There were five research questions formulated and answered.

Theoretical investigations of quantum models with SU(N) symmetry have provided important insights into many-body phenomena. However, these models have generally remained a theoretical idealization, since it is very difficult to exactly realize the SU(N) symmetry in conventional quantum materials for large N. Intriguingly however, in recent years, ultracold alkaline-earth-atom (AEA) quantum simulators have paved the path to realize SU(N)-symmetric many-body models, where N is tunable and can be as large as 10. This qualitative study examined the cultural factors in parental advocacy in South Asian parents of children with extensive support needs (ESN), concerning the educational placement decisions for their children. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic coding. The findings revealed that the predominant preference for segregated educational settings among participants was shaped by various cultural influences: persistent social stigma surrounding disability, a culturally-rooted belief in the curability of the disability, the prioritization of safety over academic integration, perceived inadequacies within general education settings, institutional pressures from school or IEP recommendations, advocacy for intensive home-based instruction, and a …

Atomic-level visualizations serve as pivotal instructional tools in chemistry education, providing insights into the particulate level of matter, a dimension fundamental, yet typically invisible, in the study of chemistry. This research investigates how students’ engagement with these visualizations influences their conceptual understanding of atomic-level phenomena. Specifically, it examines the knowledge resources used by college chemistry students (n = 15), both current and former General Chemistry students, to agree with visual representations when confronted with conflicting animations depicting atomic level acid–base neutralization reactions. The descriptive research design of the survey type was adopted for the study. Quality service, particularly in tangible aspects and reliability, leads to user satisfaction. Staff attitude significantly impacts library service utilization, as does library policy, which guides library operations. The study adopted survey research design. In August 2024, the California Department of Education released data gathered via its 2022-23 school library evaluation. Following are major findings of an analysis of this dataset focusing on factors associated with where there are credentialed teacher librarians and how their presence helps to shape school library programs—details about staffing levels, library access, staff activities, collection size and budget, and implementation of the Model School Library Standards. Because data were reported by a voluntary sample covering approximately a third of California public schools, the dataset was not adequate to generate state totals or averages. This study, which was underpinned by the ServQual model aims to determine the perceptions of library staff of Makerere and Uganda Christian Universities on the provision of virtual library and information services (VLIS), the challenges faced and strategies for the enhancement of VLIS provision. In this chapter, we discuss and interrogate our experiences of infusing social justice into our research, teaching, and service amidst sexism, racism, and other intersectional forms of oppression that are prevalent within the academy and how this tension has tended to elicit performative social justice. First, we situate this chapter by summarizing our individual journeys with social justice in sport and exercise psychology (SEP).
