Rehearsing Justice: Theatre, Sexuality And The Sacred, Victoria Rue
Rehearsing Justice: Theatre, Sexuality And The Sacred, Victoria Rue
Faculty Publications, Social Sciences
The theatre actor’s process in a rehearsal hall is reality and metaphor. It can be a rehearsal for justice, where we can live freely. In this laboratory the actor becomes all of us. Like the actor, we inhabit our bodies and our sexualities, sometimes as spiritual practice, or as sacred and creative, even as incarnations. In particular, women’s bodies remember what it is like to be no-body and what it is like to be a some-body. The texts of women’s bodies contain their history of pain, wellness and illness. In creating a character, the actor creates a biography, an inner life, …

The Perception Of Trust Between Athletic Trainers And Musical Performing Artists, Jenna Lea Chinburg
The Perception Of Trust Between Athletic Trainers And Musical Performing Artists, Jenna Lea Chinburg
Master's Theses
Trust is a crucial element for a successful patient-clinician relationship. Athletic
trainers may care for musical performing artists who demonstrate unique needs compared
to traditional patients. In order to provide the best care, athletic trainers must establish a
basis of patient-centered care and build solid professional relationships with performers.
By improving overall patient-clinician relationship factors with respect to this population,
trust may be implemented and sustained. The purpose of the study was to determine
factors that established or diminished trust between drum corps members and their
athletic trainers. The study included 12 semi-structured interviews in which Drum Corps

Movement And Mobility: Representing Trauma Through Graphic Narratives, Stella Oh
Movement And Mobility: Representing Trauma Through Graphic Narratives, Stella Oh
Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies
The formal and stylistic movements found within the comic architecture of From Busan to San Francisco and Mail Order Bride interrogate the ways in which the visual and textual narrative can represent the emotional landscape of trauma and displacement through comics language. Engaging in a visual and textual critique of the global economy that trades in feminine identities, these graphic narratives interrogate the mobility and visibility of those who are trafficked. In these works, transnationalism is artistically embedded in consumptive practices of reading and seeing that reinforce or challenge Orientalist cultural assumptions about the Asian female body. Geographical movements of …

Loving The Unlovable Body In Yamanaka's Saturday Night At The Pahala Theatre, Christa Baiada
Loving The Unlovable Body In Yamanaka's Saturday Night At The Pahala Theatre, Christa Baiada
Asian American Literature: Discourses & Pedagogies
Lois-Ann Yamanaka’s award-winning yet remarkably neglected Saturday Night at the Pahala Theatre (1993) explores female adolescence and coming of age in a rich, polyphonic collection of verse novellas. “Loving the Unlovable Body” focuses on Yamanaka’s treatment of this transition as a fully embodied, fraught, and often painful experience by expicating the uses of several tropes used to express girls’ experiences of their bodies: eating, voice, eyes, fragmentation, and marking/naming. These metaphors contribute to the development of a complex range of possibilities from devastating to hopeful, presented in juxtaposition and interplay, for girls’ relationships to their culturally denigrated bodies and the …

Advertising Trends Of Information Products In A Nigerian Newspaper, Opeyemi Ibidun Ibikunle, Funmilola Olubunmi Omotayo
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Recent decades have witnessed explosion in the quantity of information produced, which in turn has created vast opportunities for information-based businesses. Thus, advertisers of information products (IPs) often use daily issues of newspapers to create public awareness on the nature, availability and the prices of their products. The types of advertising strategies adopted by the advertisers of the IPs vary and greatly determine the level of patronage of the products. It is against this background that this study empirically examined the trends in advertisement of IPs in the Nigerian Guardian Newspaper from 2008 to 2012.
