Research Trends In Journal Of Intellectual Property Rights (Jipr): A Bibliometric Study, Velmurugan Chandran
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the bibliometric analysis of Journal of Intellectual Property Rights (JIPR) for selected six years between 2007and 2012. It is found that the highest number of contributions i.e., 56 (19.79 %) were published in the years 2012. The degree of collaboration in this journal is 0.34. Further, the study investigated the authorship pattern, volume wise and issue wise authorship, author’s productivity and the single and multi-authored papers and average citations, page distribution, rank wise geographical distribution of publications and several features.

Lithium-oxygen batteries have a great potential to enhance the gravimetric energy density of fully packaged batteries by two to three times that of lithium ion cells. Recent studies have focused on finding stable electrolytes to address poor cycling capability and improve practical limitations of current lithium-oxygen batteries. In this study, the catalyst electrode, where discharge products are deposited and decomposed, was investigated as it has a critical role in the operation of rechargeable lithium-oxygen batteries. Here we report the electrode design principle to improve specific capacity and cycling performance of lithium-oxygen batteries by utilizing high-efficiency nanocatalysts assembled by M13 virus …

Aligning The Principles Of Permaculture Design With Sustainable Open Access Practice, Jennifer Laherty, Stacy Konkiel
Aligning The Principles Of Permaculture Design With Sustainable Open Access Practice, Jennifer Laherty, Stacy Konkiel
SJSU Open Access Conference
Open Access has seen increased acceptance in recent years, yet academic libraries continue to struggle with supporting and growing the Open Access institutional repositories (IRs) and increasing faculty awareness of and buy-in for Open Access and related scholarly communication issues. In this presentation, we propose a reframing of Open Access and scholarly communication strategies using the twelve principles of permaculture, an environmental design theory that provides a sustainable architecture for self-maintained agricultural systems modeled from naturally occurring ecosystems (Hemenway, 2009). Such an approach is beneficial for many reasons. Permaculture emphasizes maximum benefit from minimum effort and resources, which resonates with …

Size, surface charge, and material compositions are known to influence cell uptake of nanoparticles. However, the effect of particle geometry, i.e., the interplay between nanoscale shape and size, is less understood. Here we show that when shape is decoupled from volume, charge, and material composition, under typical in vitro conditions, mammalian epithelial and immune cells preferentially internalize disc-shaped, negatively charged hydrophilic nanoparticles of high aspect ratios compared with nanorods and lower aspect-ratio nanodiscs. Endothelial cells also prefer nanodiscs, however those of intermediate aspect ratio. Interestingly, unlike nanospheres, larger-sized hydrogel nanodiscs and nanorods are internalized more efficiently than their smallest counterparts. …

Abstract
Kashmir has remained a seat of learning and knowledge, religious and philosophical discourses since centuries. Kashmir has a rich and vibrant cultural history and a tradition of learning and scholarly pursuit since times immemorial. Through the ages, it has been a melting pot of ideas, which have been distilled into the finest traditions of learning, tolerance and cultural cohesion. These ideas have been portrayed by different writers, Poets and historians from time to time. Unfortunately, very less information pertaining to these cultural icons is available. The main aim of this work is to build a Digital collection of biographies …

This study focused on the use of ICTs by yam farmers in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State. The study made use of cross-sectional research design and data were collected with the aid of structured questionnaire from 150 respondents selected through random sampling technique from five towns in the local government area. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis in finding relationships between variables. The findings show that most of the yam farmers in Boluwaduro that use ICTs as a source of agricultural information had secondary education and they were between the average ages of …

Design/ methodology/ approach- For information retrieval “Utkal University” and “India” were the keywords used as affiliation and “2008” to “2012” selected as the time span of the study, further, the result was refined only …
Higher Order Pwm For Modeling Transcription Factor Binding Sites, Dhivya Srinivasan
Higher Order Pwm For Modeling Transcription Factor Binding Sites, Dhivya Srinivasan
Master's Projects
Traditional Position Weight Matrices (PWMs) that are used to model Transcription Factor Binding Sites (TFBS) assume independence among different positions in the binding site. In reality, this may not necessarily be the case. A better way to model TFBS is to consider the distribution of dinucleotides or trinucleotides instead of just mononucleotides, thus taking neighboring nucleotides into account. We can therefore, extend the single nucleotide PWM to a dinucleotide PWM or an even higher-order PWM to correctly estimate the dependencies among the nucleotides in a given sequence. The purpose of this project is to develop an algorithm to implement higher-order …
Hidden Markov Models For Malware Classification, Chinmayee Annachhatre
Hidden Markov Models For Malware Classification, Chinmayee Annachhatre
Master's Projects
Malware is a software which is developed for malicious intent. Malware is a rapidly evolving threat to the computing community. Although many techniques for malware classification have been proposed, there is still the lack of a comprehensible and useful taxonomy to classify malware samples. Previous research has shown that hidden Markov model (HMM) analysis is useful for detecting certain types of malware. In this research, we consider the related problem of malware classification based on HMMs. We train HMMs for a variety of malware generators and a variety of compilers. More than 9000 malware samples are then scored against each …
Pattern Discovery Of Sequential Symbolic Data Using Automata With An Application To Author Identification, Nikhil Kalantri
Pattern Discovery Of Sequential Symbolic Data Using Automata With An Application To Author Identification, Nikhil Kalantri
Master's Projects
Author Identification is the process of identifying a piece of text to ascertain if it has an inherent writing style or pattern based on a certain author. Almost all literary books can be accredited to a certain author since it has been signed. However, there also exist a plethora of unfinished books or manuscripts that could be attributed to a range of possible authors. For example, William Shakespeare has written many plays that have not been signed by him. In order to assess the importance of such texts that do not bear the authors signature, it could be vital to …

"Darwin wasn't just provocative in saying that we descend from the apes—he didn't go far enough, we are apes in every way, from our long arms and tailless bodies to our habits and temperament." said Frans de Waal, a primate scientist at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. 1.3 million Species have been named and analyzed by scientists. This project focuses on capturing various nucleotide sequences of various species and determining the similarity and differences between them. Finite state automata have been used to accomplish this. The automata for a DNA genome is created using Alergia algorithm and is used as …

Generalist predators can contribute to extinction risk of imperiled prey populations even through incidental predation. Quantifying predation on small populations is important to manage their recovery, however predation is often challenging to observe directly. Recovery of prey tags at predator colonies can indirectly provide minimum estimates of predation, however overall predation rates often remain unquantifiable because an unknown proportion of tags are deposited off‐colony. Here, we estimated overall predation rates on threatened wild juvenile steelhead Oncorhynchus mykiss by generalist adult Western Gulls Larus occidentalis in six central California (USA) watersheds. We estimated predation rates by gulls from the recapture of …
