Robust Robot Control Based On Simplified Dynamic Model, Andrzej P. Bartoszewicz May 1992

Robust Robot Control Based On Simplified Dynamic Model, Andrzej P. Bartoszewicz

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

In this paper, we propose a manipulator control based on a simplified robot dynamic model. The proposed controller is computationally efficient, and it assures asymptotic trajectory tracking. The simplified robotic model is obtained in a systematic way and is adequate for control purpose. The simplification algorithm is suitable either for general or trajectory specific motion. The algorithm simplifies only the position dependent elements of manipulator equations of motion. Therefore, if position tracking errors alone are small, the algorithm applied off-line for the desired trajectory, generates simpli6ed model valid also for an actual trajectory. The algorithm assembles the structure of the …

Performance Analysis Of A Class Of Nonlinear Spectral Filters, D. L. Zimmerman, 0. K. Ersoy May 1992

Performance Analysis Of A Class Of Nonlinear Spectral Filters, D. L. Zimmerman, 0. K. Ersoy

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

Analyses and experimental results for the symmetric nonlinear matched filter (SNMF) and the non-symmetric nonlinear matched filter (nonSNMF) are presented. The properties studied are signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), resolution, and intermodulation. Additionally, for the hard-limiter nonlinearity, optimum threshold selection and probability of error for the SNMF are investigated. The SNMF is composed of a spectral transformation followed by a pointwise nonlinear transformation. This transformation is applied to both the reference signal and the received signal, which is then multiplied in the transform domain. The non-SNMF system involves the nonlinear transformation of only the filter transfer function prior to multiplication with the …

Sound Transmission Through Stiffened Double-Panel Structures Lined With Elastic Porous Materials, Gopal P. Mathur, Boi N. Tran, J Stuart Bolton, Nae-Ming Shiau

Publications of the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories

This paper presents transmission loss prediction models for a periodically stiffened panel and and stiffened double panel structures using the periodic structure theory. The inter-panel cavity in the double-panels structures can be modelled as being separated by an airspace or filled with an elastic porous layer in various configurations. The acoustic behavior of the elastic porous layer is described by a theory capable of accounting fully for multi-dimensional wave propagation in such materials. The predicted transmission loss of a single stiffened panel is compared with the measured data.

Bayesian Signal Reconstruction From Fourier Transform Magnitude In The Presence Of Symmetries And X-Ray Crystallography, Peter C. Doerschuk Apr 1992

Bayesian Signal Reconstruction From Fourier Transform Magnitude In The Presence Of Symmetries And X-Ray Crystallography, Peter C. Doerschuk

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

In Ref. [I] a signal reconstruction problem motivated by x-ray crystallography was solved using a Bayesian statistical approach. The signal is zero-one, periodic, and substantial statistical a priori information is known, which is modeled with a Markov random field. The data are inaccurate magnitudes of the Fourier coefficients of the signal. The solution is explicit and the computational burden is independent of the signal dimension. In Ref, [2] a detailed parameterization of the a priori model appropriate for crystallography was proposed and symmetry-breaking parameters in the riolution were usecl to perform data-dependent adaptation of the estimator. The adaptation attempts to …

Nonlinear Adaptive Signal Processing, S.-W. Deng, O.K. Ersoy Apr 1992

Nonlinear Adaptive Signal Processing, S.-W. Deng, O.K. Ersoy

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

Nonlinear techniques for signal processing and recognition have the promise of achieving systems which are superior to linear systems in a number of ways such as better performance in terms of accuracy, fault tolerance, resolution, highly parallel architectures and cloker similarity to biological intelligent systems. The nonlinear techniques proposed are in the form of multistage neural networks in which each stage can be a particular neural network and all the stages operate in parallel. The specific approach focused upon is the parallel, self-organizing, hierarchical neural networks (PSHNN's). A new type of PSHNN is discussed such that the outputs are allowed …
