Classification Of High Dimensional Multispectral Data, Joseph P. Hoffbeck, David Landgrebe May 1995

Classification Of High Dimensional Multispectral Data, Joseph P. Hoffbeck, David Landgrebe

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

New sensor technology has made it possible to gather multi!;pectral images in hondreds and potentially thousands of spectral bands, whereas current sensors typically gather images in 12 or fewer bands. This tremendous increase in spectral resolution should provide a wealth of detailed information, but the techniques used to analyze lower di:mensional data often perform poorly on high dimensional data. In this thesis, algorithms are developed to analyze high dimensional multispectral data. In particular a method for gathering training samples is demonstrated, the effect of atmospheric adjustments on classification accuracy is explored, a new method for estimating the covariance matrix of …

Correlation Of Tire Intensity Levels And Passby Sound Pressure Levels, J Stuart Bolton, Henry R. Hall, Richard F. Schumacher, Jeffrey Stott May 1995

Correlation Of Tire Intensity Levels And Passby Sound Pressure Levels, J Stuart Bolton, Henry R. Hall, Richard F. Schumacher, Jeffrey Stott

Publications of the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories

The object of the work reported here was to relate the acoustic intensity level measured near the contact patch of a driven tire on a passenger vehicle with the passby noise levels measured at a sideline microphone during coast and cruise conditions. Based on those measurements it was then possible to estimate the tire noise contribution to the passby level measured when the vehicle under test was accelerating. As part of this testing program, data was collected using five vehicles at fourteen passby sites in the United States: in excess of 800 data sets were obtained.

Linsker-Type Hebbian Learning: A Qualitative Analysis On The Parameter Space, Jianfeng Feng, Hong Pan, Vwani Roychowdhury Apr 1995

Linsker-Type Hebbian Learning: A Qualitative Analysis On The Parameter Space, Jianfeng Feng, Hong Pan, Vwani Roychowdhury

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

We propose a novel rigorous approach for the analysis of the Linsker's unsupervised Hebbian learning network. The behavior of this model is determined by the underl~ingn onlinear dynamics that are parameterized by a set of parameters originating from the Hebbian rule and the arbor density of the synapses. These parameters determine the presence or absence of a specilic receptive field (also referred to as a 'connection pattern') as a saturated fixed point attractor of the model. In this paper, we perform a qualitative analysis of the underlying nonlinear dynamics over the parameter space, determine the effects of the system parameters …

Differential Current Switch Logic: A Low Power Dcvs Logic Family, Dinesh Somasekhar, Kaushik Roy Apr 1995

Differential Current Switch Logic: A Low Power Dcvs Logic Family, Dinesh Somasekhar, Kaushik Roy

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

We present a new logic family, Differential Current Switch Logic (DCSL) for implementing clocked CMOS circuits. The circuit is in principle a differential cascode voltage switch logic circuit (DCVS). In cornparimsonto other forms of' clocked DCVS, DCSL achieves better performance both in terms of power and speed by restricting internal voltage swings in the N tree. Automatic lock-out of inputs on completion of evaluation is a novel feature of the circuit and allows new implementation of logic functions and the possibility of operating with reduced voltage swings. SPICE simulattions carried out with. the MOSIS 1 . 2 process indicate that …

Real Time Pricing Of Electric Power, P. O. Asare, A. W. Galli, J. S. Lee, C. A. Lozano, E. O'Neill-Carillo, R. Y. Zhao

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

'The EE 635 course in the School of Electrical Engineering at Purdue University covers the operation and control of electric power systems. The main course elements are economic dispatch, unit commitment, and generation control. Each semester, I ask the students to prepare a term paper on a topic of present interest. The student papers are on different aspects of a given subject. These papers are assembled into a technical report. This semester, the topic is "real time pricing" (RTP), an innovative pricing technique in which the price of electrical energy varies. The concept of RTP allows added "control" of the …

Estimation Of Sequential Circuit Activity Considering Spatio-Temporal Correlations, Tan Li Chou, Kaushik Roy Apr 1995

Estimation Of Sequential Circuit Activity Considering Spatio-Temporal Correlations, Tan Li Chou, Kaushik Roy

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

In this paper, we present accurate estimation of signal activity at the internal nodes of sequential logic circuits. The methodology is based on stochastic model of logic signals and takes spatial and temporal correlations of logic signals into con~iderai~ionG. iven the State Tranzjition Graph (STG) of a Finite State Machine (FSM), we create an Extended State Transition Graph (ESTG), where the temporal correlations of the input signals are explicitly represented. From the graph we derive the equations to calculiste exact signal probabilities and activities. However, for large circuits the method can be computationally expensive. Therefore, we propose an approximate solution …

Airline Quality Rating 1995, Brent D. Bowen, Dean E. Headley Apr 1995

Airline Quality Rating 1995, Brent D. Bowen, Dean E. Headley

Airline Quality Rating Report

The Airline Quality Rating (AQR) was developed and first announced in early 1991 as an objective method of comparing airline performance on combined multiple factors important to consumers. Development history and calculation details for the AQR rating system are detailed in The Airline Quality Rating (NIAR Report 91-11) issued in April, 1991, by the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University. This current report, Airline Quality Rating 1995, (NIAR Report 95-11), contains monthly Airline Quality Rating scores for 1994. Additional copies are available by contacting Wichita State University or the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
