Irradiation-Hyperthermia In Canine Hemangiopericytomas: Large-Animal Model For Therapeutic Response, Ralph C. Richardson, Virgil L. Anderson, William D. Voorhees, William E. Blevins, Tammy K. Inskeep, Wolfgang Janas, Robert E. Shupe, Charles F. Babbs Nov 1984

Irradiation-Hyperthermia In Canine Hemangiopericytomas: Large-Animal Model For Therapeutic Response, Ralph C. Richardson, Virgil L. Anderson, William D. Voorhees, William E. Blevins, Tammy K. Inskeep, Wolfgang Janas, Robert E. Shupe, Charles F. Babbs

Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering Faculty Publications

Results of irradiation-hyperthermia treatment in 11 dogs with naturally occurring hemangiopericytomas are reported. Similarities of canine and human hemangiopericytomas are described. Orthovoltage X-irradiation followed by microwaveinduced hyperthermia resulted in a 91% objective response rate. A statistical procedure was given to evaluate quantitatively the clinical behavior of locally invasive, nonmetastatic tumors in dogs that were undergoing therapy for control of local disease. The procedure used a small sample size and demonstrated distribution of the data on a scaled response as well as transformation of the data through classical parametric and nonparametric statistical methods. These statistical methods set confidence limits on the …

The Crc Plotting Package, Carl Crawford, Mani Azimi, Malcolm Slaney

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

The CRC Plotting Package is a device independent graphics system. Subroutines for generating graphics exist for programs written in FORTRAN or C. A program called Qplot exists to plot binary vectors generated as the output of any program.

Dynamic Systolization For Developing Multiprocessor Supercomputers, Kai Hwang, Zhiwei Xu Oct 1984

Dynamic Systolization For Developing Multiprocessor Supercomputers, Kai Hwang, Zhiwei Xu

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

A dynamic network approach is introduced for developing reconfigurable, systolic arrays or wavefront processors; This allows one to design very powerful and flexible processors to be used in a general-purpose, reconfigurable, and fault-tolerant, multiprocessor computer system. The concepts of macro-dataflow and multitasking can be integrated to handle variable-resolution granularities in computationally intensive algorithms. A multiprocessor architecture, Remps, is proposed based on these design methodologies. The Remps architecture is generalized from the Cedar, HEP, Cray X- MP, Trac, NYU ultracomputer, S-l, Pumps, Chip, and SAM projects. Our goal is to provide a multiprocessor research model for developing design methodologies, multiprocessing and …

Efficient Contextual Measures For Classification Of Multispectral Image Data, Herbert Gary Greene, Philip H. Swain Aug 1984

Efficient Contextual Measures For Classification Of Multispectral Image Data, Herbert Gary Greene, Philip H. Swain

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

The most common method for labeling multispectral image data classifies each pixel entirely on the basis of its own spectral signature. Such a method neither utilizes contextual information in the image nor does it incorporate secondary information related to the scene. This exclusion is generally due to the poor cost/performance efficiency of most contextual algorithms and a lack of knowledge concerning how to relate variables from different sources. In this research, several efficient spatial context measures are developed from different structural models for four-nearest-neighbor neighborhoods. Most of these measures rely on simple manipulations of label probabilities generated by a noncontextual …

Advanced Industrial Robot Control Systems, Richard P. Paul, J. Y. S. Luh, S. Y. Nof, Y. Hayward

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

The objective of this research is to extend the flexibility a,hd . 'usefulness. of current industrial robots by the integration of robot motion control directly into a. general purpose programming language, the development of force feedback and its integration into the language, the formulation of a high-level task description language RTM, and by the investigation of both off-line collision-free path planning and on-line collision avoidance.

Analysis And Implementation Of Median Type Filters, J. P. Fitch, E. J. Coyle, N. C. Gallagher Jul 1984

Analysis And Implementation Of Median Type Filters, J. P. Fitch, E. J. Coyle, N. C. Gallagher

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

Median filters are a special class of ranked order filters used for smoothing signals. These filters have achieved- success in speech processing, image processing, and other impulsive noise environments where linear filters have proven inadequate. Although the implementation of a median filter requires only a simple digital operation, its properties are not easily analyzed. Even so, a number of properties have been exhibited in the literature. In this thesis, a new tool, known as threshold decomposition is introduced for the analysis and implementation of median type filters. This decomposition of multi-level signals into sets of binary signals has led to …
